“Great value hotel”
Reviewed May 8, 2012 via mobile

The staff are very helpful and pleasant. The room was clean, nicely furnished and the bed was very comfortable for a good nights sleep. The breakfast, I thought was very good value at 9 Euro. The receptionist allowed us to check in early as we had arrived before we thought we would which was very helpful of them.
The only gripe with the hotel was that our swipe card access key kept failing and we ended up having to get it changed twice. However, none of the others in our party (there were 3 other rooms) had any such bother so we might just have been very unlucky.
The bus service that you can pick up from just outside the hotel proved to be a bit erratic - we waited 35 mins for a bus into town and 45 mins for one coming back. We would recommend a taxi, if your time is at a premium. Nothing to do with the hotel however and I would rate our stay overall as very positive and excellent value at £43 per room.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your kind comments. I have passed them on to the staff as it is always nice to receive positive feedback from our guests. I am very sorry that you experienced problems with our key card system. The key cards sometimes stop working if they are left in close proximity to mobile phones or credit cards. The bus service from the hotel to Dublin's City Centre is normally very regular. On Sundays and Bank Holidays, however, the service runs slightly slower. The 140 and 40d buses stop directly across the street from the hotel and the journey to the city centre is approximately 15 minutes. Once again, I would like to thank you for your comments. I hope to welcome you back to Ardmore Hotel in the near future.

Just after a yummy breaky which is our last at the Ardmore Hotel as we go home today!
Very happy with the quick, friendly check in where we were well advised on hotel facilities, carparking, bar food etc etc.
Our room was a nice size for our family of 4. Shampoo, soaps, body wash etc supplied and tea, coffee was plentiful in our room also. Great iron (which didnt cling to any of our clothes)!!!!.
Ice machine on our floor (which was very handy).
Beds extremely comfy (probably best nights sleep we ever got in a hotel room).
Bar food excellant with a menu for every taste bud. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food you receive (also reduction on price if your a resident!!!) Example; you can upgrade your panini /toastie/sarni of choice to include a delicious bowl of homemede soup for E1 extra.
With the bus stop right outside hotel door we left the car in the underground carpark and used the bus to the city center for the show that we initially came to Dublin to see, and the Museums, Killmaynum Jail and various other touristy things we visited while on our weekend away.Kids were allowed in the bar at night to listen to the bands.
Overall a definite yes yes/thumbs up for the Ardmore Hotel Dublin and as Arnold Swatzneiger said "We'l Be Back".

Great hotel, staff very helpful and cheery! Drinks normal priced, however breakfast for what it is, is a tad steap, but you are on holiday! Dublin CC is around 20 mins on a bus. You an catch a few bus just over the road from the hotel and on way back the bus stops right outside. Nice rooms plenty of room and no noise to say on a busy road! been here twice.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am delighted that you enjoyed it.
I have passed your kind comments along to the staff as it is always nice to receive feedback from our guests. For breakfast, we offer a Continental Breakfast option which costs just €8.50 and there is a wide selection to choose from on the buffet. For only €1 extra, we offer guests a chance to avail of a freshly cooked breakfast in addition to the Continental Breakfast. Our hot breakfast options include a Full Irish, Waffles and Porridge, all cooked to order. As you mentioned, the bus service from Ardmore Hotel to Dublin's City Centre is very regular. There is a bus stop right across the road from the hotel and the 140 bus goes straight into Dublin's O'Connell Street and also stops at Nassau Street which is near Trinity College.
Once again, I would like to say thank you for your kind comments. I hope to welcome you back to Ardmore Hotel very soon.

We stayed here for 4 nights and found the room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel to take you into the city centre. You can buy a bus ticket from reception for 3 days to travel back and forth which saves money and allows to to hop on and off any city buses as you please which we found was great value. The only downside was the road noise...in hot weather it would be very noisy with the window open.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel to avoid road noise.

We booked the Ardmore hotel primarily because of the rate, which was very good especially when compared to the hotels in the center of Dublin. We booked the Full Irish Breakfast online as well which was delicious (Felt very american i.e. sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, waffles, etc...) and the price was great. Rooms were modern and clean, Hotel is right next to a large street but in the evening, traffic quieted down so you could sleep with the window open. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel which runs downtown. We had to take a taxi downtown on Sunday though as the bus does not travel as regularly on that day. On other days, the bus was very useful and quick to downtown. On a sidenote, the bar in the hotel also has some of the best Buffalo Wings I have had in years. Overall, excellent hotel for the price and the location ten minutes from downtown was not really an inconvenience.

Room Tip: Room on the side facing away from the street may be beneficial if light sleeper.

We had a great time staying there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar food is pretty good, and the breakfast was actually amazing for the price - initially we thought it was quite expensive, but it was worth it. There were two big negatives for us though: the bed was really quite uncomfortable, and it is a fair distance out of the city centre, with a limited bus service on that route. If you get the bus pass (a family ticket can cover two adults without children...) that will definitely serve you well; the #140, #40b and #40d goes straight past the door, but you are best with the #140 as it goes all the way along O'Connell Street and the rest of the city. Open the windows during the day, as the hotel it quite warm.
Recommend the hotel if you can cope with bed that's rather hard...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review the Ardmore Hotel. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel and will pass your comments about our friendly staff on to them.
As you mentioned our breakfast is terrific value. For only €8.50 guests can enjoy the entire continental buffet or for an extra euro upgrade to a Full Breakfast and all of the cooked choices.
I am sorry that you found our beds to be hard, some of our beds are still very new with extra support and I am sorry that you found this uncomfortable.
With regards to the bus service, the 140 does indeed take guests to O'Connell Street and further on into the city centre, for guests who have a little time on their hands all of the other buses which stop literally outside the door go every 5-10 minutes to Parnell Street just off O'Connell Street and are quite reliable services.
Once again thank you for reviewing the Ardmore Hotel, we hope that you will be back to stay with us again shortly.

Here's a great place to stay if you want to be close to the airport, and close to downtown. There's a bus stop right across the street that takes you right into town. The airport is 10 mins away and is also close to a large grocery store. Staff was friendly and helpful. The bar/restaurant in the hotel is convenient and good. Room was clean and despite staying over St. Patty's Day, was very quiet at night.
