It was midday when we arrived at the Maldron Hotel and our room wasn't ready.. that was fine as check in was not until 2pm. the very pleasent staff took our bags and it was them that seemed dissappointed that the room wasnt free. However, as we waited we were told if we wanted to go on our trip around Dublin and call back our room would be ready and if we wanted a free upgrade to ex suite! The staff were really busy with people checking in and out and i have stayed in many hotels around Dublin and cannot fault this place. It is slighty out of town but a 15min walk our short taxi trip would sort this. The O2 is across the road and around the corner from the Maldron is a pub called The Ferryman, its a welcoming no frills traditional irish pub with a hidden bar downstairs that was full of celi music live for all to enjoy. Later in the evening we went for dinner in the Maldron and after reading some of the reviews here we were half dreading it.... DO NOT BELIEVE THE POOR REVIEWS HERE...our food was excellent and the service was 1st class and as for the morning breakfast, it also was a home from home with plenty to eat. We will be back to the maldron and at the momment cannot find a hotel to beat it in dublin

We stayed here to attend the Transatlantic Session show at the Grand Canal Theatre. Long queue to book in but it was 2PM. The room was fairly standard, good size, with the typical Maldron ironing board set-up which is frustrating. Only 3 pillows and limited towels, and no soap in the shower dispenser let the experience down.

When we got back from the gig the bar had a private (abd very loud) function going on. One lady came down in her pyjamas to complain about the noise.

Dear exozzie

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay with us at the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane.

Indeed I remember the day clearly and apologies for any delay at checkin, it was quiet a busy one with Trans Atlantic Sessions and Strictly Come Dancing on together. Whilst we would on occasion have DJ performances and other music events in Vertigo Bar, these are never closed privately and are fully open to all guests of the Hotel, in addition to that we would also have our Mezzanine Bar in operation for a quieter area to relax.

We look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me directly on cokane@maldronhotels.com

I stayed in Maldron Hotel, Cardiff Lane, Dublin with my boyfriend it was so awful. We didnt get our room key until 4.30 having had waited since 2pm in the reception area. We had dinner booked in the hotel restaurant for that night but when we arrived it was full of kids so we decided to eat in the bar. The following morning we went down for breakfast and there was green mould all over the bread when the lady before me complained they just took the slice she had in her hand we then asked were they going to remove the remaining bread they did but replaced it with frozen break. Not exactly 4 star standard. We went to use the leisure centre and the jacuzzi was freezing you could not use it. When we went to check out we had an issue with the bill we had eaten in the bar and paid for the food at the time but the food was also on our bill we really had awful hassle trying to sort this out as i could not find the receipt. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed here with my wife & 2 children at the beginning of January 2011 & I must say we were more than happy with what the hotel had to offer, it's not easy to find a hotel in central Dublin with a swimming pool but this hotel did have one which was excellent for the kids each morning, the hotel in our opinion was spotless & had a nice fresh clean smell when you exited the lifts on the way to the bedrooms, it's a 20 minute walk to the Temple Bar area which is a nice walk along the Liffey, another nice touch was that there was no fuss made about our kids having to pay for breakfast (they only eat cereal anyway) some hotels in the past have tried to charge us for a kids breakfast which I think is unreasonable to say the least, overall we were more than happy with this hotel & it's friendly staff, we will definately be back.

Hotel was clean and provided what was advertised. Lobby was noisy and not at all cozy to sit with friends, but rooms were fine, if a little hot. Biggest problem is no wifi in the rooms. Was available in the lobby, but meant a trip to lobby to check mail. Ethernet is available in the rooms, but that leaves non-computer users (I.e. Smart-phone users) out of luck.
Location was exactly where I needed it to be so no complaints. Also, allowed late checkout which was greatly appreciated.
All in all an acceptable no-frills place to stay.
