My friend and I stayed at the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane October 9-October 15, 2009. We enjoyed our stay from beginning to end. The night manager, George Hancik, greeted us graciously at 6:00 AM on October 9th after we had traveled for over 24 hours. He allowed us to check in early and our room was spacious, comfortable, and quiet. Breakfast was included in our hotel package and we enjoyed a full Irish breakfast every morning. The hotel location is near the River Liffy and only a short walk to Dublin City Centre. There is construction in the area, but it did not bother us at all. If we return to Dublin in the future, we would stay at the Maldron again.

Stayed at the Maldron for 3 nights, were really pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel - our bathroom was absolutely spotless and every day the room was made up immaculately by the maids. We had breakfast included in our deal and found it more than adequate, but a bit disappointing on the sunday morning - it was so busy that we had to wait for a seat but there was loads of tables left needing cleared for ages and it was clear not enough staff were working. There is a lot of building work around the hotel- which is no fault of the hotel! - and it is a bit of a walk into the city centre, but it didnt bother us and if we were nearer centre, it would be sure to be double the price and not to the standard of this hotel, and noisier with crowds.

All that said, as others have said there is no individual toiletries, limited choice on hospitality tray, no air conditioning in rooms..... these things didnt bother us enough to ruin our stay... but may have enhanced it that bit more. Be sure that this will be the best spot in town in a few years. Would definitely come back. Loved Dublin!!!

We stayed 4 nights at the Maldron as part of a package tour. I upgraded to this hotel and can only now imagine what the other hotel would have been like! The front deak was unfriendly, we were never greeted either comimg or going. The last night we were there I actually witnesses the desk helper slamming the phone down! I couldn't figure this out at first because the Irish are extremely friendly people until I realized that most of the crew that we observed were not Irish. The hotel is absolutely "no frills" by that I mean no shampoo etc, mattress was hard, shower had no encloseure so water was sprayed up to the toilet and smelled of mildew. The hotel ended up costing us more because it is out of the way and required 2 taxi rides per day to get to the city center.

My wife and I stayed at the Maldron Hotel (Cardiff Lane) this October during our 8-day trip to Ireland. The hotel is a good 15-minute-walk from Trinity College and downtown Dublin - that's why I only gave it a "3" for location. However, there's a bus stop a couple of blocks down the road - so when the buses are running (and on the weekends they don't run very frequently), getting around is alright. There are 3-day bus tickets and the days you use them don't have to be consecutive.

That said - apart from the location, the hotel was a great experience. We got upgraded to an executive room when we arrived and were given breakfast vouchers (reducing the price for breakfast to 10 € per person). The room was very large. Since it was facing away from the road, it was very quiet, as well. The cleaning staff was exceptional - the room was meticulously clean and despite the fact that we spent a lot of time at the hotel, they always found a time slot to make up the room when we didn't notice it. Exactly how it's supposed to be. Apart from the size, the room was also adequately equipped (water cooker, cups, a selection of teas, SAT-TV, a Sofa etc.).
The room didn't have WiFi but had a wired high-speed internet connection.

The hotel's spa facilities were also nice and easy to use (make sure you bring a swimming cap, or you're required to purchase (2.50 €) one before you enter the pool. There's a pool, a jacuzzi, a steam room and a sauna as well as a large work-out area. Towels are free and the staff was friendly and helpful. The same goes for the staff in the reception area - we kept on pestering them about bus stops downtown, posted some post-cards etc. and they were always friendly and knowledgeable.

On the day of our departure, we decided to have breakfast in the hotel. The breakfast area is quite large but because of the size of the hotel it can still get crowded if you would like to eat between 8 and 9 a.m. (there are signs pointing this out in the elevator - and it's a good idea to take the hint). The breakfast itself was excellent - offering the regular Irish selection + continental items, well worth the 10€.

All in all we very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay at the Maldron again, should we decide to visit Dublin in the future.

The location of this hotel is the only drawback for leisure travelers, but as the new convention center across the river is completed, and nearby construction projects finish up, this location could be a plus. The 10-15 minute (pleasant) walk along the river to the center of Dublin was not an issue for us, but we had very mild weather and don't mind walking. If you aren't on a budget, taxis are plentiful and the front desk is very helpful. We were out of the hotel most of the day, but we did not notice construction noise from nearby building sites.

Free wifi in lobby, paid internet kiosks with printers in lobby as well.
Thanks to a Priceline deal, we paid less to stay here than most of the B&Bs on our trip... so I have no complaints!

My mother and aunt stayed in the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane in September 2009 (they are not of the internet generation hence I am writing this review and not them) they checked in on Friday afternoon to a warm and friendly receptionist. They were in Dublin for a party near Connolly Station and the receptionist offered them directions which was very helpful but in the end they decided on a taxi. The room was spotless, a good size and with lots of natural light.
Breakfast the next morning was very good, lots of choice of both hot and cold foot.

If you are looking for a good hotel in the centre of Dublin with warm, friendly staff and nice clean and well decorated rooms and public areas at a reasonable rate - this is the place for you!

I thought this hotel was very nice and clean. There was work being done outside but it didn't deter my feelings towards the hotel. With the window open it was a little loud to sleep but it wasn't so early that it bothered me.
We walked to temple bar with ease along the river. i thought it was a nice walk especially on the way back. we were going to take a cab home but thought it'd be nice to walk off dinner.
if you park in the parking garage across the road, be sure to read all the terms of the parking and the fees. the hotel doesn't offer parking so this appears to be the only option at the time, so make sure you fully understand the terms. weekday parking is a little steep. other than that this place was exactly what we were looking for. once the construction is done on the square i am sure it will be more lively.
