3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

I have just returned from a short stay in this hotel which was for my friends special birthday celebration, i had selected this hotel as it seemed to have everything we would need.
However.....on arrival we stood for over 10 minutes at reception, a UPS courier driver also stood beside us and looked as amused as we were, eventually we got to the desk and were checked-in by Tomasz? He was pleasant enough however did not apologise for the length of time we had been standing there nor welcome us to the hotel, he just looked at me. I said i had a booking and wished to check-in, this was done, he then asked for a credit card as security only on the machine it had the equivalent of 30 euros and i had to ask why this was and he did explain but i still dont fully understand where the figure comes from, most hotels usually only hold the details, never an amount. He then gave us our room keys and the card stating our room number which had been scored out and another room number written in place. We got in the lift and went to the floor and to the end of the corridor only to find that neither of the keys would work in the door. I left my friend in the corridor with our luggage and went back to reception, again had to wait as reception staff were talking among themselves, i again was dealt with by Tomasz who checked the cards and then informed me that he had written the wrong room number on the card and our room was actually on another floor! As my friend was on a diferent flood i had to telephone her to meet me on another corridor and eventually we got into our room, we were not off to a good start. The standard of room was good and as expected, although i have not seen a shower curtain in a 4 star hotel for many years. We unpacked and had a quick look round the hotel and went out for the rest of the day. Breakfast the next morning was fine, had everything you could want, plenty choice and of good standard, very nice staff there, also housekeeping staff all very friendly.
We never used the leisure facilities but did have a look, also staff there very friendly, the pool area looked good and well looked after. We had an early evening drink in the lobby bar upstairs and had planned to have a snack before going out later at night, however we found the menu poor, also the table runners on every table looked un-ironed and really let the look of the place down, not what i would expect in this standard of hotel.
We had booked a nice restaurant in the city centre for the saturday night and i went to reception to ask for a taxi, again i stood at the desk and was basically ignored until a female with dark hair eventually said is everything ok, now i would have thought that standing at reception it would be obvious that i was looking to speak to someone, she did however call a taxi and come to the bar once it arrived and was pleasant. There was a band on in the bar at the time we were waiting that were good, in my opinion the bar area was not busy yet there were at least 2 tables of leftover food/plates/glasses etc lying for the lengh of time we took to have our drinks, again, attention to detail needs improved. On the Sunday morning we went down for breakfast and were met by a massive queue and tables outside the restaurant covered in used plates etc...i appreciate if the hotel is busy this can happen but the staff seemed in a bit of a panic, however, we didnt have to wait long as there was only 2 of us and were shown to a table, but had to ask for tea/coffee as we were not offered any. It seems that although the hotel itself is nice and all as you would expect from a 4 star hotel, but just lacks attention to detail.
Our flight wasnt until Sunday night so we went to reception to check-out, nobody asked if we enjoyed our stay, they just took the room cards and asked me to pay the small amount due for using the vending machine. We asked if there was a luggage room to use and that was dealt with quickly and we were given a number for each case, however our cases were not lifted so i asked where they would be taken and was told they would be put in the storage room next to reception and we then left the hotel for the day.
On returning to the hotel, we had a drink in the bar and freshened up before collecting our luggage, we went to reception and handed over the 2 slips with the numbers, the female receptionist went to the luggage room and came back out empty handed, walked past us and ran behind the bar and spoke with another member of staff, her actions immediately had us concerned, she then came back from the bar and went behind the reception desk, still ignoring us and spoke with someone on a telephone and then disappeared, we had now been standing waiting for over 10 minutes and were getting anxious as we had a bus to catch to the airport so asked another member of reception staff if there was a problem and she used a telephone and spoke with someone yet never came back to us to say what was going on, i then asked and was told 'im just having your luggage brought down', i then asked where it was as we had been told it would be in the luggage room, she replied saying there hadnt been enough room so our luggage had been taken upstairs.
Eventually our luggage was brought down and we left the hotel but we should never have been left standing there worried as our passports etc were in our luggage that we left after being assured they would be in a luggage room.
Every member of reception staff were appalling, very unhelpful and could not have cared whether we were there or not, its such a shame as the hotel could be fantastic but this level of service will prevent me returning or recommending it to anyone else. I am a frequent traveller and have stayed in many hotels, the reception staff in this hotel let it down badly which is unfortunate as my next trip to Dublin with be for the rugby and the hotel location would have been perfect.
First impressions count, there are plenty other hotels in Dublin, if you want a smooth and easy check-in and check-out service and a bit of courtesy then stay somewhere else.

We would really like to to thank you and your wonderful staff who made my dad's 74th birthday so special.
My parents Edward and Maura Reilly arrived at your hotel on the 12th April and were met by your staff which helped them check in offered them tea and coffee.
They were helped to there room which you kindly upgraded and left my dad a card and a fruit platter.
We had booked your special for dinner and breakfast for them ,they thought your staff in the restaurant were very helpful and the food was lovely.
My parents have travelled the world and have stay in a lot of hotels and were very impressed by your staff and service.
They want me to let you know, that they will be passing on what a positive experience they had.
Thanking you,
Catherine

We stayed at this Hotel from 21 thru 28 April 2013. Modern clean, comfortable beds (very important for Senior Citizens) and a nice large room and bathroom. When one considers the numbers of other guests, this was a very quiet room on the 5th floor. Breakfast standard English but missed little things like grilled tomatoes, mushrooms or fried bread. Otherwise no complaints, all their staff very friendly. Their new Vertigo Bar very comfortable and we were lucky to have a Irish Music entertainment evening which rounded up a very pleasant stay. Just minutes on foot to the River Liffey or 20 minutes to O'Connell Street. Railway Stations, trams and buses close by and always Taxis waiting outside.

Great room, great location, delicious breakfast and reasonably priced, what more could you want? A balcony with a great view? Got that too! I can't say enough good about this hotel, I loved it and will definitely be back.

Stayed here on 26th April 2013 for a 10th wedding anniversary. From the fruit and card on arrival we knew this place went the extra mile. Rooms and facilities were excellent but it is the staff that make such a large hotel so homely and welcoming. Smiles and welcomes from everyone. No request a problem and helpful advice at every stage. The spa staff were particularly delightful bending over backwards to make our stay as relaxing as possible. Food and drinks menu was not only delicious but excellent value. A little bit out of the centre but the price reflected this and you'll be lucky to find better hotel staff anywhere. Totally overwhelmed. We will be back and a credit to the chain.

Room Tip: We stayed on 6th floor, it was totally quiet and excellent windows kept out and street noise. Balcon...

Stayed n the hotel on sunday last very friendly staff hotels rooms were very nce food was excellent and fast service, love the fact that nice hot food is available 24/7.We had a little issue (unrelated to hotel)and the trainee Manager Martin could not have been more helpful in helping us sort it out .Thank you. If I could have one criticism is that the cleaning trolleys and laundry seems to be on the corridors for a long time
