“Gogarty's Late Night Jam Rocks!”
Reviewed July 8, 2009

If you are looking for a traditional Irish live music experience, then Oliver St. John Gogarty's Pub is definitely the place to be after 11:30 pm. On any given evening any number of musician gather to play the best traditional music (and a few other tunes as well - I'll never forget hearing "Another Brick in the Wall" played on violin!!) This late-night jam is really exciting and the talent that these musician display is exceptional (especially the violin player Andy!!) It's loud and it's a little chaotic at times, but well worth the time spent there!!! Can't wait to visit again!!!

I have been to Dublin three times now, with different groups of people, over the course of 9 years and have ended up here on one night during every trip!

Great atmosphere (to those who said "a bit touristy" - what on earth do you expect in Temple Bar?!), fun crowd and good music.

If you've had a few drinks and you're out in Temple Bar, stop off for a beer, a shot and a dance!

“An uninspiring evening meal”
Reviewed June 12, 2008

Myself and two friends went to Gogarty's on a Tuesday evening - it was fairly busy but there appeared to be enough staff around to cope. Problem was that the staff (with the exception of one or two) seemed to have no nterest whatsoever in the well being of the diners (99% of whom were tourists). I ordered mussels - these were reputed to be served with " chopped tomatoes, shallots, fresh herbs, white wine and cream" - I really don't know how accurate a desription of a sauce must be - there was the taste and colour of tomato in the sauce, there were a number of leaves of parsley around the top, there was some rather sad looking substance around the top 12 or so mussels - this I took to be the cream although it had a very sad ending, as for the wine I don't suppose you'd fail a breathalyser test with it. Overall a very insipid dish that cost €16.95.
One of my friends had Sackville Street Chicken Casserole - she was happy enough with this, as was my other friend who had St Killians Breaded Cheese. Now whether the chicken had ever been near Sackville Street (OK, I know it has changed its name!) or the Breaded Cheese had ever met St Killian I don't know - the chicken looked suspiciously like roast chicken in gravy, and the cheese was served with the ubiqitous redcurrant sauce.
Overall a very uninspiring meal and unhelpful bordering on rude waiting staff. It advertises itself as serving vegetarian dishes (in the plural) - when asked what vegetarian dishes were available that evening we were told it was just tomato pasta - and that although the menu did say 'dishes' most evenings there was only one dish on the menu due to time constraints.

“Highly Recommended by Hobbits”
Reviewed May 4, 2008

We visited the Bar on 30th April 2008. 2.30 pm. At first we planned to stop for a quick drink after we had been walking for so long around Dublin.

Temple Bar is a fantastic location for Hobbits and we was attracted by the bright exterior decor of this Bar. The Food here is excellent and so is the service. I had Dublin Coddle and my partner had Stuffed peppers as she is a veggie. There was a good selection of veggie foods.

Traditional Irish music is played downstairs from 2.30pm weekdays and was a nice touch to the atmosphere there.

There is a covered smoking area upstairs which is heated and looks just like another Bar area.

The staff are both friendly and efficient and we would recommend this to anybody wishing to find a warm welcoming Bar in Dublin

Thank Mark K
