“Great home brewed ale”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012 via mobile

If you're looking for an alternative to Guinness, try the Porterhouse. We had 2 ales, the Porterhouse 'classic' (or something like that) and the Oyster pint. Both very very good. Also plenty of beers from around the world to choose from. Had always intended to go and glad we did this time. Fully recommended for a nice pint and a great atmosphere. We didn't have the grub but it also looked good.

“Dublin's Gem!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

We'd read about this pub and were super keen to go - but beware - it fills up very quickly - all 3 floors! So get there early! By 6pm on a Sunday there were no chairs left. On Monday we got there at 4.30pm and there were plently of eats, but these quickly filled once theworking day ended.

A great range of beer - both home brews and the favourites. A must for any beer enthusiast. Also numerous whiskys! Made choosing difficult.

Great range of food choices for lunch and dinner - easy to find somthing everyone will like.

The best part about this venue is its atomspere. Set just back off the river, it is 3 stories of wooden furnishings to give it that old world feel, mixed with beer memorabilia (namely wals filled with bottles) that gave it a hip, quirky edge. If possible, chose a table up stairs by the window to watch passerbys on the street below.

Would defeinatly reccommend it!!!

Well organised and good value, including a free pint! Found out that my grandfather used to work there after he came back from WW1.

“Best meal I had in Ireland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

This was a busy, welcoming place where I had the best meal of my 10 Ireland trip. I'm a vegetarian and the sweet potatoe was fantastic! I've never had one and now I'm craving another.

“Best Brewpub in Ireland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

The only problem with Porterhouse is that there's not more of them. They make some incredible beers, Wrasslers is hands down the best Irish Stout on the market. I've also seldom been able to find a beer that they don't stock. They frequently have lovely international beers on for four euros a bottle, which is decent value for Dublin, considering that you're getting a fantastic beer.
Their food is great value too, Nice meaty burgers.
