I have just got back from staying at the Christchurch Hall apartments and I must admit that when i first read all the reviews I was starting to worry! But when we arrived it was clear that some people are just extremely fussy!

4 of us stayed in room 32 - we are all between 24-25. We arrived at about 9am and we were expecting to have to wait until 2pm for our room, but it was ready on arrival. The receptionist apologised straight away for the lack of carpet in the hall on our floor as they were in the middle of refurbishing it (not a problem anyway!) The reception is open 24 hours and all of the receptionists that we dealt with were really helpful and friendly.

The apartment was really clean and modern. It was well equipped for self catering and also had an ironing board and iron which was handy. Had no complaints at all about any part of the apartment and we had a nice view of the cathedral.

Location wise it is about a 10 minute walk to Temple bar, but of an evening its just easier to jump in a cab which costs about €5, the reception booked that for us but you can easily get one off the street.

Dublin is really expensive, so if you are planning on going there, make sure you take quite a bit of money with you.

I would definitely go back to stay at these apartments!

Booked three rooms at Cheristchurch back in Jan 08, through stay dublin .com, unfortunately had to cancel one of the rooms, not a problem, arived at 11.00 Fri morning and even though both apartments were not ready we were able to leave all our bags in first room that had already been cleaned, room 20, all 9 of us were amazed at the apartment, absolutely stunning, first 5 grabbed a bed and the rest of us were just hoping ours would be as nice, we all headed for the local bar located just over the street, to sample the local tiple, we arrived back at 6.00 pm!!! and were told room 29 was ready for the rest of us, even more spectacular than room 20, if you go away to moan you will find something wrong every where but we found these brilliant, location wise it couldn't get any better, clean, friendly organised taxis at reception when needed what more can you want, yes refurbishment taking plac but this is obvious when you book, would def reccomend these apartments would one word of advice if going to Dublin take lots and lots a and lots of money, I have never been anywhere so expensive, cheapest pint 3.5 euros most expensive 7 euros, avoid the guinnes tour total waste of money, advise the city tour bus you learn more about guinness on that tour.Overall brill social life and friendly people but way too expensive to be able to go again - good job we are only 40 once!!!!!

Please please please avoid this hotel, and the entire stay dublin group which is run by the same appalling dishonest management.

While staying at Christchurch Hall, one of the StayDublin group of apartments, we were thrown into the street at am despite having paid for our room in advance in full. We were sworn at, shouted at, and leered at by the night security, and treated with contempt by the manager when we complained. We were told this was because 'some other welsh guests were trouble so all guests must be treated as though they're trouble, even when they're not'. We were then accussed of trying to steal a sofa bed form the hotel!!! When asked for cctv footage of said offence or any other proof none was forthcoming...hmmm.

In addition, when we returned after complaining the next night, the shower didnt work, the kettle didnt work, and there was an enormous and dangerous leave coming through the roof of the apartment kitchen, right onto the power points, about which nothing was done following our complaint - EXTREMELY dangerous.

Do NOT stay here.

I've copied below my email to the hotel for anyone that is interested in further details.

P.S. - Dublin itself is brilliant - So find somewhere else to stay and have a great time!

Hello,

I booked with you for two nights from 6th - 8th March 2008. I stayed in Christchurch Hall, in a 1 bedroom apartment, with my friend, a Ms XXXXXXX

I paid $123 for the first night accommodation on my credit card, my friend paid the same amount for the second night.

As you may recall, your night security guard threw us out of the apartments at approximately 2am, after we returned back from meeting a friend. The reason was that we invited two friends with us up to our room. As we had paid in full the apartment we saw no reason this would be prohibited, we are quiet responsible people and simply wanted to give our friend with us his birthday gift, as that was the purpose of our visit to Dublin.

However, we were thrown out and as a result had to stay elsewhere in Dublin. We were forced to find accommodation in the middle of the night, we were spoken to extremely rudely by your incompetent security guard, and the following day when we returned to complain, you:

stated that the security guard would apologise

stated we would have a refund of the first nights accommodation to our card as we did NOT stay on your premises

Neither of these things have occurred. In addition, there was a major leak in our room from the room above when we returned the next night , about which you did nothing although it was dangerous.

Had you refunded the 123euros as stated for the night you threw us out of our accommodation onto the street, I would let the matter go. However - this email is to inform you that I have lodged a credit card dispute for the sum and will be posting this email in it's entirely on every travel website I am able to find, along with making a complaint to the Dublin Tourism Board and the Tourist Assistance Service whom I have copied in.

Regards,

Me and my sisters (we are all 18-25) stayed at christchurch apartments from 30 jan untill 1 feb. We were looking for a cheap holiday. We got our flights really cheap and found these apartments through www.staydublin.com they looked lovely but we done our reseach and found all these bad reviews and were giving it second thoughts about staying there. The more we thought about it though, even if it was as bad as people say we were not losing out alot of money and we were only there for 2 nights after all. We arrived in Dublin early and got a bus into the town centre. Although we were told we could not check in untill 2 we thought we would just make our way there and chance our hand. We thought as we had alot of time we may as well just walk. We didnt want to buy a map so we went into a tourist shop and got a leaflet for Guinness Storehouse and used the map inside that to direct our way from the town centre to the apartments and we were quite shocked about how fast we got there.

We arrived at the apartements at 11-12 o'clock so we buzzed in. The girl at the desk was really helpfull and friendly and said that our apartment would be ready really soon so we could go for a walk and leave our bags and she would look after them. We came back 30minutes later and our apartment was ready. First impressions are not everything! you do walk in and think "oh my goodness what have I let myself in for"

We stayed in apartment 32, it had just been refurbished and it was lovely, dont get me wrong because it was on the floor where all the apartments were getting refurbished there was noice from around 7am untill 6pm at night but your in Dublin, your not there to sleep. The apartment looked exactly like the pictures it was really clean and modern looking. The kitchen was really usefull it had everything you needed to cook a real meal, we didnt eat out once and certainly saved ourselfs a few pounds in doing so. The living room/dinning room had a flat screen tv (that we didnt really use to be honest, there was sexy irish builders outside after all) The toilet was not as modern as the rest of the apartment but certainly clean and it did the job. The bedroom was amazing, the carpet in there was out of this world I wanted to take it home with me. The apartment felt really "cosy" and just like a home.

If your looking for somewhere cheap to stay then I would stay this is the perfect place for you to stay, it is clean and the best you would get for the money. If you are going maybe the start of next year then this would be a great place to stay after all the refurbishments have been completed. If you go before then, its fine if you dont mind a bit of noice.

It was really close to all the pubs & clubs. If you are looking for a good club, the best I found was Citi bar. The best bar was the world famous Temple bar you cant go wrong with a good irish bar.
