“Very moving experience”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

In an actual original tenement house, No 14 Henrietta St, you get an insight into what life was like during the 1913-14 Lockout in Dublin. First there is an introductory video, and then, straightaway, you're in the middle of a family living and trying to survive through this period. Young actors portray, very movingly, the struggles and hardships. They draw you into the action with direct questions! Well done to Anu Theatre group! I was sobbing when it finished, it was so intense! Sadly it's due to finish at the end of August. It would be wonderful for secondary school educational trips, bringing history vividly to life. It is not open to children under 12. The whole experience lasts about an hour and the entrance fee is very reasonable and well worth it.

“Intense but moving experience”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Excellent "live" museum type experience in Henrietta Street at this house. Couple of young people acting (very well too!) what life was like in the crowded awful tenements in Dublin's 1910ies - bringing history to life regarding Larkin and the advent of trade unions in the city. Might be a bit frightening for younger children - would recommend 12+ only, as the actors can get quite intense but then the times were rough too. Very good portrayal and well worth the visit. Go while you still can - finishing end August!

“Short, succinct and super”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

This short interactive presentation set in Number 14 Henrietta Street gives an emotional, intimate insight into the social deprivation of life in the Dublin tenements and how this was impacted upon by the 1913-14 Lockout. The players are superb, bringing industrial history to life. To say more would be to spoil the experience. However if this much I will advise, if you are asked a direct question try to respond appropriately. Well worth a visit. It finishes August 31st. Every day except Wednesday. “A must for all locals and visitors”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

This is an excellent snapshot of Dublin tenement life during the 1913 lockout's to force workers to abandon the ITGWU. It gives a great insight into the motivations and uncertainties, the emotions and despair of the occupants of 14 Henrietta St tenement house.
Go along and be prepared to be moved.
