Following the guide book walking tour my group of four travelers popped into the Gresham Hotel on O'Connell Street for a peek. The Writers Lounge displayed their featured Afternoon Tea, and while we were not within the timelines that day, we returned the next. We were not disappointed at making the trek again.
The server made the perfect recommendation for out little group as we didn't want to waist food, but certainly wished adequate portions to satisfy. While there were four of us, she recommended a serving for three. Price 18 Euro per person - affordable and well worth the amount.
The table was set with a linen cloth, plates, utensils, tea pot, sugars and cream. And then arrived the two tiered serving stand filled with sandwiches on the lower level and pastries and delicate treats on the upper level.
The time for tea is 2pm to 6pm at the Gresham - our group enjoyed two and a half hours of leisure chat, tea, more tea - two pots were enjoyed and tasty treats. There was plenty for all, with barely half a scone remaining which we couldn't find room to consume.
If you find yourself in Dublin - make time for tea. Make the walk - wherever you may be staying to the Gresham. The service was excellent and the afternoon one of the better I've had in years.
