There are a wide selection of Chinese takeaways in the Finglas/ Glasnevin/ Ballymun area, mostly giving a Chinese meal that suits the Irish taste, typical of this would be every Irish fellas favourite on the way home from the'boozer', the good old 'Chicken balls with rice and curry chips'! definitely a firm favourite among my group of friends.
Hoi Wun, I have always felt is the restaurant that stands out from the rest in the local area, though not the cheapest, but in my opinion, the best quality of food.
Like the other reviewer who is the only other person to say something about Hoi Wun, I too have been coming here for many years, purely on the basis that everything else around is shoddy, and this place always had a higher standard (foodwise). Friendly staff, quick service, about €12 a head for takeaway, you can also see the food being cooked, which debunks Irish peoples urban mythological stories about Chinese restaurants using substandard or 'wrong' meats.
The atmosphere here is like that of an airport, everyone is excited to make their orders, and receive them, spectacular, you are sitting there with maybe 10-15 other people waiting for your food to come out, and one of the wonderful staff with there lovely oriental tones announce over the hustle and bustle what they are bringing out, and then the eager customer jumps up like a little schoolchild and retrieves their food from the counter.
I don't even have to say, keep up the good work, because they have been doing this for decades, I will come here as long as i live within ten miles of the place. They do deliveries too!
