I Wasn`t happy with our room whatsoever. I paid for junior suit ,180 per night and the state of the room was horrendous. Room hasn't been hovered, Promised flat screen TV turned out to be and Old bulky TV with no remote! Room was freezing upon arrival and it stayed like that since as it just couldn't keep the heat, the air conditioning had to be on the whole time and let me tell you it was noisy. not a chance of nice quite sleep. As top of the icing there was still rubbish in a bin from previous guest. The small Luxury hotels of the world? I don't think so. I don't understand how this hotel got4 stars. I'm working in 5 star luxury hotel and we do things way different. The morning breakfast was served by an extremely unhappy waiter who just wanted to get rid off his customers as soon as possible. I frankly recommend any other hotel rather than this. After my very polite complaint like answer to receptionist question of how was our stay all what I`ve been told is that people do mistakes. Thank you.

Dear Lucas

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.
I am sorry to read your stay was sub-standard and not enjoyable.
It's really disappointing for us as well because this is definitely not the standard of service that we pride ourselves on here at La Stampa Hotel.
I have shared your review with all my staff and since we could easily identify your reservation, I have discussed and addressed the issues with everyone involved. You’ll be glad to hear that we have now carried out corrective training and hope that these problems will not occur again.
Please accept my apologies for not meeting your expectations on this occasion and thank you again for your valuable feedback.
Should you consider giving us a second chance we would truly appreciate the opportunity to restore your faith in La Stampa and look forward to proving this to you.
Please contact me personally to make the booking when you are coming to Dublin. My email address is shown below.

The location of this hotel couldn't be better. It is in front of the Lord Mayor's House, in Dawson Street, a central lovely street full of nice pubs and restaurants and few meters far from Grafton Street, Steven's Green and Trinity College.
We reseved a room as members of Small Luxurious Hotels and received an upgrade to a suite as promised. We liked it very much. It was a very big room furnished in a venetian style with some asian elements. The bathroom looked very nice, but was not too useful. The old-fashioned bathtub in the middle of the bathroom was not easy to use, as one had to wash oneself sitting down in order not to wet the whole floor. There was no standing-up shower.
Unfortunately during the weekend of our stay, due to some water shortage in the whole city we had no water from 8.00 pm to 6.00 am the first night. That resulted in some problems with the central heating in the hotel, we did not get any warm water and we e were compelled to take an ice-cold shower… Not the hotel's fault.
Staff was really friendly and helpful. Our sink got plugged, but the room service solved the problem few minutes after calling the reception.
The reception of the hotel is on the first floor, but we do not have complaints for that, as many other reviewers, since our luggage were carried up by the staff at the entrance and brought to the room.
Breakfast was served in a dark pub downstairs, with loud music. Buffet had a poor selection for a four star hotel.
In conclusion, maybe the hotel needs more maintenance, but we liked our room and enjoyed our stay in La Stampa very much. Recommended.

We loved our room. Others have said the room were different and that is true. But the location and help of the staff, especially Jullian, made our stay here good. We arrived from a very early flight and were able to get a room early. This was helpful. The breakfast was alright. The location to Grafton street could not have been better. Like others, the walking through the bar to get to the elevator was unique but we did not mind...we took the stairs most of the time. The hotel was clean and our room was not noisy. I agree with others the prioce is a little pricy but we loved the uniqueness and friendliness of the staff. Due to the location and staff, I would stay there again. We usually stay in 5 star "chain hotels" ...but it was nice to stay in a hotel that is not "cookie cutter" where the staff really make up for deficiencies. If you have trouble walking this hotel might not be for you due to the stairs.

Dublin tips we leqarned along the way:
1. Heed the warning signs at the airport. There are taxi drivers who will say there meter is broken and try to charge you more than the flat rate. Ask if the metere is working before you get in the cab and get your printed recdeipt. Email the hotel and find out what the rate is before you leave for Dublin.
2. If you go left out of the hotel, you will find St Ann Street which will take you quickly to the Grafton shopping area. Use the Church as your landmark and you will not get lost. There are many good places to shop and eat here.
3. To the right of the hotel is the Celtic Whiskey shop which is a great place to learn about Irish whiskies and other beverages.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not near Dawson street.

Let me start by saying I have sympathy with the La Stampa hotel and I have no issues with many aspects of this hotel.

The location is superb and the staff are friendly and doing their best, the bed was exceptionally comfortable and the quality of the pillows, sheets etc was excellent. Nice bathroom with Molton Brown toiletries and good bathrobes.

Now to the bad bits, the hotel is tired really tired and I can except that as it was quite clean. The TV in the room is a big old CRT and the rest of the room is shabby chic at best, the communal areas are equally tatty and frayed.

The shower curtain contraption over the bath is a nightmare by the way.

The reception area hidden round a corner on the first floor makes the hotel less welcoming as when you arrive there's no sense of being greeted. Biggest beef is breakfast in a nightclub on torn benches is really not good enough for a £200 a night hotel. The smell of stale alcohol was dreadful and breakfast was average at best.

When we were there, there was an issue with the water due to the Dublin restrictions which resulted in no water at points but when there was water the heating stopped working and then went into meltdown and delivered water so hot you couldn't shower. This was not the hotel's fault I understand that and credit where it's due they gave us a 100 euro discount. I do however think maybe wrongly it's an indication of the hotel's general tiredness.

Once upon a time I think this was cracking little bijou hotel but not any more really needs some investment and help. We stayed in room 403 right over Dawson St and whilst some noise came through it wasn't enough to disturb us like some other reviews and we quite liked being in the hub of it.

I am really sorry you could not have a relaxing break as you planned.
We have recognized the issues that I have discussed with you in private and you'll be glad to hear that we are now serving breakfast in our main restaurant - The Dawson Brasserie. Please accept my apologies again for all our shortcomings.

This was in many ways a "different" hotel. I had the understanding that it was supposed to be a boutique hotel, whatever that might mean, and I was surprised.
We took the bus from the airport, got off at Trinity College and walked the rest of the way. It wasn't far, but the narrow and crowded sidewalks made it difficult to drag our suitcases along.
When we arrived at the hotel entrance an empoyee helped carrying two of our suitcases up the three staircases leading to the reception area. We had to wait for the receptionist to finish a lengthy phone conversation in which she said little other than "yes" and "ok" before we received our keys. The aforementioned hotel employee then carried two of the suitcases one floor up to our room - the Athena Suite. Elevator - I guess not. We never found one.
The room was quite large facing the busy Dawson Street. We were assured by the employee that noise wouldn't be an issue because of the double windows.
The room was filled with strange decorative items that seemed to come from a flee market. There were no comfortable chairs or couches in which to sit and relax. The TV set was an old CRT box, dating back to the seventies. One of the lampshades had a burnmark on it (fire hazard?).
The bathroom had a toilet, a sink and a bathtub, complete with a ridiculous shower arrangement. The shower curtain was hung on a circular bar that made sure it would get in your way during a shower. And there were no shelves for shampoo or soap bar in close proximity to the shower/bathtub arrangement.
The room and the bathroom were long overdue for refurbishment. Many of the floor tiles were cracked. The ceiling also had cracks in it, and the place just appeared worn and shabby.
The worst experience, however, was the noise. This room (#401) is located against the wall of the next door nightclub (37 Dawson St) and the music kept playing until about 3 in the morning. And it was very loud. A few hours later the noise from the street made sleep a difficult proposition. It seemed that all the buses in Ireland would run through Dawson Street, and that including sightseening buses. They did make a lot of noise.
On the positive side, the room had a view towards the residence of the Lord Mayor. There was a converter plug in the room. The bed was comfortable. And the location was good.
However, it wasn't good value for money.
By the way, I highly recommend The Porterhouse nearby in 45 Nassau St. It's probably the best pub in Dublin.

Room Tip: Don't accept a room towards Dawson Street adjacent to the nightclub next door. Ask if they'v...
