This is free and definitely worth the time to go visit! We thoroughly enjoyed looking at the artifacts from ancient time! Everything was displayed nicely. The building itself is worth the time to go see.

We try to visit this type of museum in every city/country that we visit. This one is great. Most folks can probably do it in less than an hour by concentrating on the area containing golden artifacts found in Ireland. We, on the other hand, spent 3.5 hours. They have great explanations about the exhibits in English and Irish. Well presented objects and great variety. Recommended.

They seem to have a low budget. The place is free. Sooooo....... So it needs a little extra maintenance but still very nice. Vikings, gold relics, ancient times, some modern history all of Ireland not just Dublin. Well worth the time and money (did I mention free). So spend half a day and get some history,

After hearing about the Irish Bogs and the human remains found in them, I had to see for myself and learn more. You can learn alot at this descreetly presented section of the museum. They also have a great collection of early gold artifacts. Not very large, by national museum standards, and easy to navigate, so you do not need alot of time to see most of the artifacts. Good rainy day activity and it rains alot in Ireland!!

This museum was at the top of my to-visit list in Dublin as a former Anthropology student and it didn't disappoint. The Bog people exhibit was very well done, informative and respectful of the bodies themselves. I was impressed with the vast collection of Celtic gold and the in depth Viking exhibit. It gave me a bit of a chuckle to see that there was the obligatory Egyptian exhibit, because it was clear that the curators were trying really really hard to connect the Egyptian artifacts to Ireland in some way, but kids are sure to love it. We all had that ancient Egypt phase, right?
Anyway, be sure to put this on your list!
