“excellent experience”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

Small but comprehensive. Don't bother with the minuscule Egyptian and non Irish collections if your time is brief. Their unparalleled bog artifact collection and explanatory notes are wonderful. I would have loved to linger further over their brooches. Too bad they have no truly good reproductions of torques or broaches in their somewhat cluttered "gift shop"

“Beautiful treasures to behold!”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

This museum contains many of the archaeological treasures that have been found throughout the island of Ireland. Many of them are breath-taking in their detailed craftsmanship. I especially liked the exhibits that focused on pieces made in Ireland and how Irish art was influenced by other cultures. (There are exhibits on Roman and Egyptian art as well, worth looking at, but these collections are small compared to major museums in Europe and U.S.) If you want to see the beautiful artifacts that were excavated from places like the Hill of Tara, this is where you'll find them! (And if you have a teenage boy around, they'll enjoy the "Kingship and Sacrifice" exhibit--two words: Bog Bodies). A must see for anyone who enjoys ancient art.

This is a must see for anyone interested in Irish history. Edward Rutherford must have spent days here while writing his books on Ireland.

“Rich in History”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

This museum is a must visit place. I have read about a lot of the items that are displayed in this museum, nothing can take the place of actually seeing them right there in front of you. Plan on long visit.
