“Astonishing reach back into our origins”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

The ground floor takes us right back to the earliest times from wonderful gold jewellery, boats and even clothing to bog bodies (not for the fainthearted those!). First floor impressed us most with the presentation of the Vikings. Leave time to watch the excellent films about them and also the history of Dublin after that. You'll need the whole day to do justice to the museum so break it up with lunch in the cafe. We went twice.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

A great way to spend a few hours whilst the other half shopped.
Nicely laid out - very interesting per-history, Viking & medieval Irish section.
Like the majority of museums it's free and very close to the Natural History museum.
Definitely worth a visit when in Dublin

“Interesting Visit”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

We didn't have much time to spend in the museum. We ran in to see the exhbit of the excavated bodies found in the bogs that had been preserved. It was a very well done exhbit. We also passed through the viking's gold exhbit on our way out. If we had more time it would have been great to see - Plus it's free!

The National Museum of Ireland is absolutely full of amazing history most of it relating to Ireland's long past. Well worth a visit to spend a few hours and it is free to visit! Highly recommended.
