BEST thing about this hostel was the Thai food restaurant across the street. I was here for 4 days and went to eat there twice during my stay. As far as the hostel goes..it is at a good location. It is about a 10min walk to the Temple Bar area which is great. Rooms are not that big but beds are comfy. Each room has its on bathroom so if you're sharing a room with only five people then only those five people use your bathroom. Wifi is only available in the lobby/reception area but my room was located in the first floor so I was able to get signal all the way to my room. Also, if you're doing a Paddywagon Tour the place were they take off from is within a 2 min. walk.

I came March 2012 with a tour group. Stayed in a six share mixed dorm and it was great for a hostel. Cleaned everyday the shower and toilet were great. Surprised they didn't provide hand wash in bathroom but hey it's a hostel. Location is perfect it's like a 10min walk into city centre where they parade usually takes place.
The breakfast good just the drinks they offer could do a lot better. Everyone was social able even the hostel staff, can't go wrong with this place. If I'm back in town to celebrate st Patrick's day I will make sure I book this plac

Thank you so much for your nice review - what took you so long????? We have upgraded lots of things since last year. I think if you come again you will find the breakfast has improved. It's just a basic free breakfast but the tea is good old Irish tea and the coffee is freshly brewed! What more could you ask for?

I've stayed there for a long term and it was very Nice. There is a big self-catering kitchen, comfortble beds and a nice common area including tv room and a game salloon. Unfortunatly the wifi only works well on the reception and there are no lockers in the room. But staff from reception is very friendly (the housekeepers not at All) and make you feel in home and it's in the city center near everything! I was studing English in the city and there were many others students living there like me, so it's a perfect place to meet people.

We didn't have the friendliest of meetings, the staff helped us but we kind of felt like it was too much trouble for them. There was plenty of tourist information for us for things to see and activities which was useful. Its a safe hostel as you need to scan your card to go past reception. Our only other problem was the smell in the corridor on the way to our room, which was caused by left over takeaways. Apart from that the room was good, much better than we were expecting (we had a four person private).

Thank you so much for your review. We are delighted you liked the hostel but disappointed you didn't feel the staff went out of their way to be helpful. We pride ourselves on going the extra mile for our guests and we do have lovely, kind staff many who have worked with us for a long time. We receive lots of positive feedback from our guests about the service we provide. Your comments will be discussed at our next staff meeting.

I was very impressed with how clean this hostel was. We upgraded our room to a private suite because it was very cheap to do so. Our room was very spacious, clean, and had all the basics such as towels, hairdryer, and t.v. It was very crowded with noisy and drunk college students but keep in mind, it is a hostel. The breakfast was a joke as for it consisted of cheap and stale cornflakes and toast. They should not even advertise as having breakfast included. The location of the hotel was not very close to anything special and was in a "not so nice" part of town. Although Jacobs was not located near anything worth seeing, it was very close to tram stations where you can go pretty much anywhere you would like for cheap. Overall we did enjoy our stay except for the breakfast. However, I would not recommend it for families or as a choice for a romatic getaway. This place is perfect for young travelers who are really only staying for a place to rest their heads and night.

Room Tip: I would highly recommend booking a private room. Its cheap to do so and you get more for your money.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Glad that overall you liked the hostel . With regard to Breakfast - it is a FREE light breakfast and basic in content ( cereal . toast , jams , butter , tea and coffee ) You can eat as much as you want .We will certainly review cereal storage and quality as they are refreshed daily . We also have a self catering kitchen for guests if you wish to make something more substantial. Some guests certainly like to party while in Dublin - but this is certainly not true to all and you can also have a very calm and chill out stay at the hostel. The Location is as you say very handy for all transoprt links to,from and around the city
