“Great food/atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2014

Went to this establishment based on it being rated #13 out of 1410 on Trip Advisor. It did not disappoint. Very good food. Served and entertained by owner's son who was extremely gracious to us. Would definitely go there again!

“Nice Little Cafe”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2014

Found this cafe through other reviews on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed.

They mostly cater to breakfast and lunch but there is a nice dinner menu if you get there early enough. There aren't hours posted so calling ahead might be advised.

My husband had the Irish Stew which was delicious with chunks of tender lamb. A nice piece of crusty bread wouldn't go amiss. I had the Penne Pesto Chicken. Excellent flavor, tender chicken and pasta al dente.

Adam the owner came over & chatted with us for sometime. (Adam - check out Skerries Mill, it's worth a drive!!)

Comfortable seating, good service, tasty food and a good location just off O'Connell St.

“Great find!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2014

We had tickets for the Gate Theatre, so I was looking for a place to eat that was between our hotel that that venue. Thanks to Trip Advisor, we selected Sheries Cafe Bar and the reviews were justified. We stopped by, finding Sheries just a half block of the crush of O'Connell street and just north of the Liffey. Since we were eating very early in the evening, the place was almost empty when we were greeted by Adam, the manager and grandson of the restaurant's long-time owner. We were seated near the bar and in a bit a gentleman came in and started a humorous conversation with Adam. He eventually turned to us and asked if we were interested in theatre. When we said we were going to the Gate, he said he was, too, which was the start of quite an evening. Both he (Patrick) and Adam continued their repartee and we joined in, when we could. It was just delightful. They even recommended the same place for music.
It was still quite quiet business-wise, so Adam sat with us, while keeping a sharp eye on the house, and kept us entertained with wonderful conversation.
Oh, yes, there was food, too! Everything was fine and very suited for our evening. I don't know how Sheries would be on a busy evening, but we met two wonderful Irishmen who made our visit memorable.

“Mixed Feelings !”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2014 via mobile

Called in here this morning based on all the positive reviews on Trip Advisor. Was met by a young Lady who had a fabulous manner & was bright as a button. I ordered their mini-breakfast and the Tea & Toast was on my Table in an instant. The cooked food, which consists of 1 Sausage, 1 Bacon, 1 Egg & half a Tomatoe, were placed in front of me about 2 minutes later. Surprised & shocked by the speed with which this "Cooked" Breakfast was produced, it is clearly evident that with the exception of the Fried Egg, the other items on my plate had been "Pre-Cooked". The slice of Bacon was so cremated, that if i had entered this Cafe with any dodgy teeth, i fear I would have been leaving without them. Not bad overall, just a shame the Breakfast was not cooked "to order".

“Our favourite place in Dublin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2014

We tried out several restaurants during our 4-day trip and this was definitely our favourite. The atmosphere was relaxed but not completely informal, the service was excellent and the food was absolutely top-notch - I recommend the Terrine de la mer with the Chilean white wine.
