Description: YAMAMORI IZAKAYA, located at 12-13 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, in what was originally Ireland's very first cafe. This old Bewleys building boasts original oriental style decor with a twist. Enjoy the 1940's Chinese and Japanese beer ads and movie posters with a great Asian beer or rice wine, and try our dublin famous homemade Izakaya burger. After your meal we have a lounge downstairs where you can catch a nice Izakaya Lycee cocktail, and enjoy some modern sounds from Dublin's up and coming DJ's. Downstairs is a Japanese style drinking house, serving small Japanese style pub food dishes with great Japanese whiskeys, beers and sake. Come for food or drinks, chill out and listen to some urban lounge deep and soul tunes. The Izakaya has a retro easy going atmosphere and is open 7 days a week from 17:30 and is available for private bookings.

I've eaten here twice over two trips to Dublin. This is not your typical Japanese restaurant. They have taken local ingredients like venison and beef and turned them into lovely dishes. Best yet, you can order many of the dishes in tapas style and share them with a table full of people, The vegie curry, beef sushi and venison dishes I would order thrice.

They have a good asian theme mixed drink selection which is hard to find in more restaurants. The quality can be a little inconsistent over visits. And they have a good selection of Asian beers.

Finally, the atmosphere seems to be from the 30's and their selection of music is modern as it's piped in from the dance club below. Don't go expecting a quiet atmosphere but if your up for a cosmopolitan experience that can be fun and tasty.

Second visit to Izakaya and loved it again. Several delicious veggie options: the tofu was the best I've ever had-but the sauce with it was so salty it nearly ruined the meal. One slip, but everything else was amazing. Beer was ice cold and staff were attentive and pleasant. I forgot my jacket, they made sure it was put aside for me. Great food, very reasonable prices and superb waiting staff.

Was passing by several restaurants, but this one took my attention, looks very good from the outside so decided to have my dinner over here. And didnt regret, food was awesome, fresh prepared served on a hot stone plate. Very friendly staff as well. Definitly I'll return here if I visit Dublin again

Stopped by this place and it certainly is better than the position it's at on TP.

Very fresh Japas (Dim Sum and Sweet Potato wedges are sublime).

Service was very friendly and efficient, with knowledgeable staff. Five plates plus two drinks came in at a reasonable €48.

Definitely recommended if you are in the centre of Dublin.

Staff was ok
But very expansive for what we have ordered.

3 people, more than 50 euros and still hungry at the end..

Avoid!
