Description: YAMAMORI IZAKAYA, located at 12-13 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, in what was originally Ireland's very first cafe. This old Bewleys building boasts original oriental style decor with a twist. Enjoy the 1940's Chinese and Japanese beer ads and movie posters with a great Asian beer or rice wine, and try our dublin famous homemade Izakaya burger. After your meal we have a lounge downstairs where you can catch a nice Izakaya Lycee cocktail, and enjoy some modern sounds from Dublin's up and coming DJ's. Downstairs is a Japanese style drinking house, serving small Japanese style pub food dishes with great Japanese whiskeys, beers and sake. Come for food or drinks, chill out and listen to some urban lounge deep and soul tunes. The Izakaya has a retro easy going atmosphere and is open 7 days a week from 17:30 and is available for private bookings.

This is obviously what they're aming for. I didn't think it was quite as good, though the portions are probably more generous. Seemed expensive, but then it is Dublin

Thank you for your feedback Hnswst. We are happy to hear you enjoyed our generous portions, but we are sorry to hear you found the prices a bit too high. Yamamori was launched in 1995, and is Dublin city’s first premier Japanese noodles restaurant. We aim to offer high standards of food, and friendly service. We hope to see you again in the future.

Kind Regards,
The Yamamori Team

Disappointed by the food, as i love Yamamori Sushi. We ordered a number of small dishes but none of them were flavoursome. Staff were very nice. The interior hasn't changed that much from the previous restaurant that was there, so not much atmosphere.

My husband and I wanted to go to the original Yamamori but they were closed, so saw this across the street and decided to try it. The restaurant didn't look that big from the street, so we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in. Nice ambiance and friendly waitstaff. Loved the homemade gyoza (could have eaten more), but glad we didn't because the sushi rolls were huge. The dragon roll and tuna tartare were both excellent, but not knowing they were going to be so large, we had also ordered the Singapore noodles! Tasted like fried rice but with thin noodles, so good! All in all, we loved everything we ordered and finished everything....didnt want to waste anything. Would love to go back but would next time split a sushi roll!

Amazing value for money and very friendly staff.
This cafe is warm and cozy it has a lovely snug up beside the window. Sat there today with one of my friends for lunch and a great catch up a couple of coffees after . Staff are super friendly and attentive, with water top ups and tidying away dishes when finished promptly but not rushing you away. We both had lunch specials I had the brocolli soup which was amazing I think homemade and I also had a lovely toasted sandwich of brie sun dried tomatoes on lovely brown bread my friend had same soup and a bacon and egg mayo sambo toasted. Soup and Sambo all for just 5 euro and with a very comfortable warm surroundings. I will definitely be back. All the other food looked amazingly presented I want to go back for dinner with friends some day hopefully.

Hi Betty Lou,

I have a feeling this positive review is not for us, I'm afraid! We are a Japanese restaurant, and do not serve sandwiches. However, thanks for taking the time to offer your feedback. We hope to see you someday in Yamamori, and hopefully you will write us another review of your positive experience with us, Japanese style! ;)
