“Not bad”
Reviewed February 23, 2014 via mobile

Not bad for a hostel although slightly disappointing.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Dublin central hostel for a weekend break and stayed in room 3 a private en suite room. The room itself was very pleasant although situated between a laundry room the reception and the smokers area which makes for quite a noisy location.

In addition the hostel description boasts a continental breakfast included. What this actually means is there is a toaster, some bread and cereals on offer for you to help yourself to in the morning. Complimentary tea and coffee is also supposed to be available. This is true for tea but as a coffee drinker I was disappointed that coffee is €1 for a small cup.

Overall though it is a cheap and cheerful hostel near the centre of a wonderful city.

We spent this past New Year's Eve in Dublin staying for four nights at this hostel. We had a double room with a private bathroom which was very clean and we also got complimentary towels and free breakfast.
The staff is friendly and very welcoming. As soon as we arrived the manager, Ian, explained us everything about Dublin and gave us lots of info about what to do and where to go.
The hostel has a tv room and a well stocked kitchen, where you can eat something warm. It feels like staying at home!!
Plus, it is just 10 minutes away from O'Connell Street, and the price is excellent!
We will be back for sure!

This place is really great. It's cheap and I guess that's what attracted us the most. It's cheap, but they offer a lot -- it's located 5 minutes from city center, you get breakfast for free, wifi and the hostel is really clean. The staff is nice and very helpful. It's close to the city center, but because of its location, you can buy food very cheaply. Centra and Gala are just around the corner, and Tesco's is 10 minutes away. Because the hostel has a big kitchen with all necessary utensils, you can cook dinner if you want to. I'm sure that if I ever stay in Dublin once again, I'll stay at this hostel!

Room Tip: We stayed in a double room at the top floor and it was really quiet and clean.

I stayed in a private suite for 2 night and cannot wait until my next visit. The staff was so friendly and the room was wonderful ! It really felt like a home away from home . The price was incomparable and it was less than a ten minute walk to Temple Bar . All around an excellent experience.

The staff at the hostel are very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed the conversations that we had with some of the part-time staff members. The location is close to the city center. It took us between 15-25 minutes to get to Trinity college. The kitchen was also well stocked and the staff did an excellent job with maintaining a clean atmosphere in the kitchen area. The location is also very close to the Dublin bus that goes from the airport to the city center, which made traveling easy.

Just a five minutes walk away from O'Connell St (but 15-20 Min to Temple Bar area), but: Surrounding is not very nice, a bit creepy... I wouldn't want to be outside there after dark. Plus, the street is very busy, several busses pass by and it was very loud in the room after 6 am (no soundproof windows, of course).

I've never seen a room or facilities so dirty. Of course, if you share a 8 bed dorm, there's probably always someone staying there which makes it hard to clean. But it looked like the last cleaning was at least a week ago, some places looked like they were never cleaned before (dusty bedframe on the upper bed). Hair on the floor and everywhere, plus the dust on and under the beds. Also in my opinion 2 small wardrobes and 1 small rack is not enough storage room for 8 people.

The staff was very familiar, helpful and nice, though. Breakfast was OK, exactly what you would expect when you read "intercontinental breakfast".

Room Tip: I wouldn't suggest the 8 bed dorm. And if possible, ask for a room that is at the back of the ho...

Bedroom was really small with no even a chair to sit or leave a bag. But cannot complain, good value for money!! It s a hostel and for the price it is impossible ask to much. The staff was really friendly and helpful, breakfast a good surprise! For a weekend it s more than fine! Really close to the center, 10 min walk to o'connell street, 20 to temple bar.
