Bedroom was really small with no even a chair to sit or leave a bag. But cannot complain, good value for money!! It s a hostel and for the price it is impossible ask to much. The staff was really friendly and helpful, breakfast a good surprise! For a weekend it s more than fine! Really close to the center, 10 min walk to o'connell street, 20 to temple bar.

Just returned from a three night, four day trip in Dublin, staying at the Dublin Central Hostel- Dublin and the hostel did not disappoint!

Okay, pros;
-Fantastic location; yes, it's not slap bang in the middle of Temple Bar so it will be a little walk back or short taxi ride in the evenings (we paid 7 euros for our cab) but you really get to soak up the atmosphere. It's a 3-5 minute walk to O'Connell street (the main drag) and around 10 minutes to all the pubs at Temple Bar. We found a great little restaurant called Flannagans along O'Connell street as we were walking to Temple Bar so it worked out really well for us! Temple Bar will sting you for food and drinks because of the location, so eating and drinking along O'Connell street and surrounding areas is a good idea if you want to save some cash.
-Brilliant staff; when we checked in, we were given loads of information about the area and not just the guide book stuff, proper insider stuff! Like, the book of Kells- we were warned not to bother paying the pricey fee as you only get a glimpse of two pages. The guy was really fantastic, great knowledge and very honest. For us, this was perfect as it was our first time in Dublin!
-Clean room; okay, not like Mary Poppins spotless but for a hostel, for the price we paid, it was perfectly fine. We stayed in room 10 at the very top of the hostel which was perfectly fine. Room was lovely and spacious, even for two girls!
-Storage; we had an evening flight on our departure day and the hostel were kind enough to let us keep our luggage in a secure, locked room. One less thing to worry about and more time for exploring!

Cons;
-The only thing I can think of (and I'm really trying here) is the noise BUT and this is a big but- ONLY if you leave the window open at night. I'm a really deep sleeper and I didn't hear a thing but my sister said she was woken on the last night at 4am by noisy neighbours. It was the only night we left the window open so if you're a light sleeper like her, keep the window shut!

Couple of tips- we didn't realise this, but the hostel actually have hairdryers you can use (may have to pay a deposit but I'm not entirely sure as we didn't need to use them) and they also had toiletries (saw shampoo, conditioner etc), so if you're flying Ryan Air like we did, don't worry about buying toiletries at the airport. We also didn't realise that there was free breakfast, so another bonus!

Overall, brilliant hostel which just added to our amazing time in Dublin!

Happy holidays!

Sure, it's a hostel and so one cannot expect the same standard as staying at a hotel. Having said that there are still some basic things that one should be able to demand, such as clean and quite rooms. Unfortunately this was not the case when it comes to TDCH.

The good thing was that the location. Quite close to the centre one will end up on the main shopping area after a good 5-10 minutes walk. It is very easy to find, only need follow the main street north for a couple of blocks.

Common facilities are also above average - two kitchens (good opportunity if you want to cook and/or store your own food) a TV-room and a game/relaxing room.

My stay there was however a disappointing experience due to two major things - dirty room and very noisy. The bed sheet was not changed before I arrived and the bath room was all but clean. Tooth paste in the sink and black hair stuck on the wall (several places) was the first thing I noticed. It would have been impossible to notice also for the staff if they had done some check before letting the new guest in.

It was also very noisy and you could hear everything, laud and clear, from the room next door, as well as everything going on outside in the corridor.

All in all I would say that I might have been unlucky, maybe not. For my next visit to Dublin I will however look for somewhere else to stay. I would suggest other visitors to do the same and avoid gambling.

Room Tip: In order to get WiFi connection you should choose a room on floor 1-3. No coverage on 4-5

The Hostel is in a good position, 5 minutes walking from city center and 100m from the bus 40 station that brings you everywhere in the city.
The staff of the Hostel was quite nice: we arrived 10 minutes after midnight and they did us the checkin even if they normally don't accept it. Moreover at the end of the staying we forgot the phone in the room: they found it a kept apart for us, so very kind and honest.
Unfortunately others are not the same for the hostel: the faucet didn't have the mixer to do warm water, only hot and cold, so it was very bothering; there was no way to open the window (3 days with the window closed...); the breakfast was not like the claimed continental breakfast, but just a milk and soluble coffee with bread and jam; no cleaning for the 3 days: I understand it is an hostel, but actually I have been in other several hostels and they typically do cleanings. Last but not the least during the night the walking of people caused a really strong noise due to wood ceilings and stairs avoiding sleeping.

Relatively good location (walking distance from the center), and although our room was nothing special (it was one of the private double rooms, but if fact adapted (esthetically rather poorly) from a studio apartment), but the staff was kind and also common TV room was nice; overall the experience was positive for the price we paid.

Stayed here 10 days. Staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful (Christina, Ian, Ana and Alina). Very clean room and bathroom and the whole place is clean, new, freshly painted and nicely finished. Great view over Dublin from my top floor ensuite room. Shower temp and pressure excellent... an earlier reviewer said they had morning shower problems, so they must have fixed that. Very close to Dublin city centre. Great value!
