“Georgian Elegance in Dublin 4”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2011

If you are looking for a quiet, relaxed and elegant stay in an affordable B&B in a charming location, the Pembroke Townhouse is for you. It is a mid priced B&B (cheaper than the city centre hotels) but with comfortable accomodation and an excellent location. Ballsbridge (where the Pembroke is located) is one of the most affluent areas of Dublin and is leafy and charming with lots of period properties. It is only a pleasant 10 minute walk to St Stephen's Green. Lots of nice restaurants nearby and a few pubs - I recommend Roly's and the restaurant at the nearby Four Seasons.

The communal areas of the hotel are lovely with a rich colour scheme. A good breakfast is provided (I loved their breads!) and during the day you can help yourself to tea, coffee and cookies. If you want tea and coffee making facilities in your room, bring a travel kettle. Our room had a lovely sash window. The bathroom had bath with overhead shower and the bathroom suite looked new and was immaculately clean. The room was not huge but was big enough for our needs with twin beds and enough storage space. A small TV was on a bracket on the wall but it had plenty of channels and we were more than happy with it. Our room faced the road but we were not disturbed by traffic noise and we got a good night's sleep. We found the mattress and sheets comfortable but the pillows could have been a bit bigger and fluffier - that is my only fault.
There is a lift in the hotel. However, to enter the hotel from the street you need to climb a steep flight of stairs so this might not be suitable for people with mobility problems.
Service was professional and friendly, staff were smartly turned out and polite.
I found our stay really relaxing and it was a great base for our trip to Dublin. I would love to return.

We recently stayed here for 1 night with our three boys. I emailed Fiona in advance for ideas and she supplied me with LOTS of fun things to do in Dublin - we took her suggestion to get tickets for the Ireland vs. England rugby game. What a great idea -- our boys loved this! I highly recommend Fiona and her team and booking a stay at Pembroke Townhouse. The accomodations are wonderful, they have a large car park, and Fiona and her staff provide great service, along with all sorts of wonderful touches - homemade biscuits with sprigs of rosemary and thyme, or breads with names like Citrus Ginger and Fiona's famous (and very delicious) Coffee Cake. This beautiful place is close and cozy, warm and welcoming. Book your stay here, you won't regret it!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights.
The hotel is nice, clean and located in a nice neighborhood close enough to the center. Good breakfast.
Very good idea to have an Italian boy at the reception. He was kind, helpful and above all very helpful in giving us any suggestions on how to best enjoy the city.
We booked 4 rooms, 2 doubles and 2 singles. One room was too small to be a twin but I think it was an error in the assignment.
Recommended.

Lovely property in a leafy area. Very relaxing atmosphere and excellent staff. Would highly recommend. Only 10-15 minutes walk to town but a world away from the madding crowds of Grafton Street.

Stayed at the Pembroke for a rugby world cup warm up - couldn't have been more convenient for the Aviva. Good standard of rooms with lovely lounge area to relax in. Especially recommend the delicious shortbread for the midnight munchies!

I have stayed here on a number of occasions while on short business trips. The secure free carparking is a great advantage. This small hotel is well located in the City. Warm welcome. Rooms clean, bed comfortable, bathrooms of a very acceptable standard. Lovely public rooms downstairs. A lift (elevator) makes life a little easier.
Breakfast is a joy. Try the french toast!
My only complaint is that the rooms can be a bit too warm.

Comfortable hotel and reasonably sized bedroom. Small problem with window but otherwise quiet, clean and good value. Best deal we found for 2 nights was on hotel website. Very nice Irish breakfast and recommend black & white pudding. About 20/25 minutes walk to St Stephens Sq. Close to excellent restaurant, Roly's.
