“Don't miss this!”

I hadn't heard about this but was invited by a new friend to tag along. I'm so grateful! We met Frank, who took us on a walk around Dublin, showed us some quick highlights at one of the museums, and then shared some beers with us. He was warm, welcoming, and a pleasure to spend time with. It's amazing this is a free attraction. I'd gladly pay to do it again!

“Best thing we did in Dublin!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2012

We decided to do this, as it was a small blurb in the Rick Steve Travel Guide. We met at the little museum just north of St.Stephens Green and from there on it was amazing.
It is FREE and you go out either for a beer or tea. My wife and I decided to do this and we met up with a guy named Garry. Since it is free you know you are getting people who really care since they are volunteering their time and Garry was better than any tour we paid for on our trip. He was very genuine, told us about his roots, the city, answered some questions I was too afraid to ask just anybody since i thought they were simple questions. We had a really genuine talk and he gave us his pointers and showed us around the town, seeing things I would have never even thought of seeing, such as the herd of deer in the park and some good hiking trails. We spent almost 2 weeks in Ireland, one in Dublin and this was the best Dublin experience we had even though the whole trip was great. My wife and I highly recomend it!

“We "Met a Dubliner"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2012

My family and I took advantage of an excellent (and free) service we were made aware of called "Meet a Dubliner". We met with Mary, a native Irishman and member of the program, who took us to a local pub for a drink so that we could "chat". Mary was a wealth of information, whether it involved things to do and see in Dublin, or history and tradition in Ireland. She was extremely personable, gracious and informative. After a couple hours together, we said our goodbyes and thank yous to Mary, and took off for one of her recommendations. We were very happy to have met her - just wish we had done it sooner in the trip. We would highly recommend any visitor to Dublin contact Simon at "Meet a Dubliner". Every city should offer such a great benefit!

“Highlight of our Trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2012

After an incredible weeklong stay in Ireland, we decided to sign up for the City of a Thousand Welcomes visit with a native Dubliner and we will always remember our experience. Simon warmly welcomed us to the Little Museum of Dublin and our only regret was that we wished we had arrived earlier to see more of this fascinating museum. We were introduced to our host, Mick, and the entire family enjoyed his company from the start. The opportunity to enjoy tea and great conversation with our host in front of the fireplace at the Merrion Hotel truly was a highlight of our trip. Mick answered our questions and shared information about life in Dublin with such charm, intelligence and warmth. Ireland has a reputation for friendliness and this experience definitely reflects the spirit of the people.

“A wonderful experience, which far exceeded all our expectations”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2012

We were greeted most charmingly and made to feel so welcome, from the time we buzzed the door, until our guide left us at Trinity College in the late afternoon.

The in depth knowledge shared with us by Brian, a 5th generation Dubliner, very quickly had us enthralled and we soon felt part of the City itself with all its colourful history.

The whole day was topped-off by the visit to the Merrion Hotel, where we were served our coffee in the tranquility of the Terrace garden, by superbly trained and gracious staff.

We felt honoured to be the first visitors to sign the new Visitors Book at the Little Museum
and recommended the 'City of a Thousand Welcomes' to so many people during the rest of our 3 month trip and since we have returned to NEW ZEALAND
