Description: The Oval Bar is an authentic Irish Pub situated idyllically in the heart of Dublin City on Middle Abbey Street. Housed within a beautiful Victorian building with most of its period features still intact, The Oval is the perfect place to escape from the hectic hustle and bustle of the city outside and provides a haven of welcome and warmth for local office workers on lunch, busy shoppers looking to recharge their batteries, visiting tourists looking for the 'Craic' and music, cinema and theatre goers looking for a bite to eat and a drink before or after their show. Once our patrons step inside our doors they experience the relaxed and convivial nature of our charming pub, our Staff are welcoming and friendly and will ensure that everyone's stay is a pleasant one. With over 3 floors of seating and a large function area with its own private bar facilities available to rent we can accommodate any size group. We also have an outdoor seating area for those lazy Dublin summer evenings. Our kitchen serves a full menu daily with Traditional Irish Stew being one of our specialities! The Oval has long been renowned as an exceptional place to watch 'the match', we show all the major sporting events on our wide screen LCD TVs and has also a great atmosphere for pre or post match celebrations for patrons going to and from Croke Park. The Oval - home of the best Pint of Guinness in Dublin!

Quaint bar with very pleasant service. Set out over three small floors it is a bit of a pain to have to go to the ground floor to reorder. I'll be back though

I visited the Oval bar last Saturday, with a group of friends for a quick bite to eat. As they got off the luas on Abbey street, I seen the Oval nearby and we decided to proceed in. The menu was average but we all agreed on goujons and chips with a couple of mi-wadis. The portions were generous and the food was below average. The waitresses looked on as we eat and was not to pleased when we chatted after we eat. When we got the bill and proceeded to pay at bar we were horrified to see that we each were charged 2 euro for a pint of mi-wadi.To add insult to injury the barman was rude and after a miscalculation of what we had paid we were two euro short and the barman chased us out and looked for the remainder. We politely apologized for the misunderstanding to which he did not even respond. Will never be going back.

Visiting Dublin, wife looking for some good Irish Food. Ran across this as it had some on it's menu. Wife had the "Traditional Irish Stew" with Lamb Shoulder Roast. I had the Beef & Guinness Pie. We both agreed that mine was the better of the two. it was well flavored, good mash, some veggies and we loved the mushrooms in the pie. Wife's stew was only OK. on flavor.. Nothing to write home about. The bar staff were VERY friendly, so no complaints there.

It was a long time since I had a drink here but this is still a little charming pub. There is the usual few regulars at the bar reading the newspaper while the TV over the door is on but very much in the background. We didn't eat but they had quite a good and well priced menu. A nice beer and friendly chat from the barman made it a nice experience yet again. You can also sit outside if the weather is good and if you fancy it.
