“Perfect as the first choice of Dine in Dublin”
Reviewed February 27, 2014

Dine in Dublin menu was a variation from the early-bird one, and it was great. I had a very traditional dish, chicken wings with blue cheese, followed by "ribs and rump", all of it cooked to perfection. The highlight, though, was the cherry creme brulee for dessert.

“Average food, oblivious service”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

It has taken me a while to write this review, mostly because I have never written a negative review, and having worked a long time in the restaurant trade, I would like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

However, this was an exceptionally bad experience.

Firstly, we were the second table to arrive and they decided to seat us in the middle of the restaurant, right by the door. This was a particularly cold and windy night.
We asked very nicely to be move from the start (6.30pm), given the basically empty restaurant, but were told that all of the other 4-top tables were booked BEFORE US. Which is bizarre, because I've never heard of any place that allocates tables like that i.e. the first person who books gets the best table. In my experience, the person who gets there first, if they are unhappy, HAS to be moved.

In any case, this was what we were told, after the MANAGER basically avoided us for about 30 minutes, and then she cowardly got what seemed like a newbie to deal with our concerns. Not good enough, as I'm not sure that waitress is paid half as much as the manager. The waitress tried her best, as uncomfortable as she was, and fair play to her!

After that, the food was grand, a complete anticlimax, and would have not been enough to compensate for the frankly ridiculous managerial service. There was absolutely no reason for the manager not to appease our concerns, and she failed to do so. I will not recommend this place to anyone, and either will my three friends.

“Informal, great atmosphere, great food”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

We booked an early table to try and avail of the pre-theatre menu as we were going...pre-theatre. Although we were the only patrons when we arrived we didn't feel anything but welcome. Staff were friendly and attentive. The decor is simple but effective and the whole atmosphere very relaxed. Sometimes with a pre-theatre menu your choices can be limited but not here. I had the crab cake croquettes and my wife had giant couscous with courgette fritters, both of which were very good. For mains we had tandoori chicken with Bombay potatoes and a pulled pork sandwich of flat bread with Asian slaw and chips. Both again were excellent. Overall the food, service and surroundings were good the only negative being that the glasses of wine were a tad expensive but would heartily recommend for couples or a group.
