Matt the Thresher was recommended by our hotel, The Merrion. We were there the last night of our trip and had the best seafood. The fish are displayed in an open ice case next to the bar. The staff were friendly and informative. For a starter we enjoyed the smoked salmon, delicious, not fishy like we'd had at another restaurant during our trip . Our entrees included the baked Hake with herb butter, new potatoes and fresh greens, so light it melted in your mouth; the other was the pan fried cod with chorizo, mashed peas & potato. Both entrees were perfectly prepared and very flavorful. For our dessert we enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce and ice cream. There were no leftovers. Yum. The facility is spacious and bright with a very unique light fixture above the bar. The piano player was excellent and played the entire time we were there. If we would have had another night in Dublin we would have gone back for more.

We asked the concierge at The Shelbourne for a good seafood restaurant and he sent us to a great one. In an old Georgian townhouse not far off St. Stephen's Green, this is a classic place with modern touches in the decode. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the dinner was superb. My wife had an excellent dover sole and I had a menu special -- fennel-stuffed lobster. Both were perfectly prepared. A very strong wine list with a good range of prices. The downstairs dining area with only 6 tables was quiet and perfect for conversation. The ground-level bar/seating area is noisier. A great choice if you're looking for seafood.

We loved the space but the food was average compared to Dax where we ate the following evening. One of us had mussels which was the best meal of the night.
