While the Alexander will certainly not be confused with a Westin, W, or Four Seasons hotel, it certainly is a decent option for the money in Dublin.

Located right behind Trinity College, the hotel is centrally located, has a beautiful lobby, and an incredibly friendly and helpful staff. They were truly tremendous. However, the rooms could certainly use a bit of an update. Just some normal wear and tear have taken its toll, but overall the rooms were clean and comfortable. Just be careful in the showers...the tubs are extremely narrow.

If you're looking for elegance, look elsewhere. However, if you're looking for an average room at a great price, you could do worse.

We have just returned from a short break at the Alexander hotel.

The hotel is in a super location on Fenian Street which is nice and quiet but very close to Merrian Square, St Stephens Green and Grafton Street.

We had a lovely spacious room with a king size bed which was really comfy. The place was spotless and the staff were all friendly and helpful.

We thought the hotel was the best we'd stayed in in Dublin and we will always stay here in future.

... so that this gem does not go up in price, but I have to be fair.
I took my partner for a weekend in Dublin and was delighted that I picked The Alexander.
The location is ideal. Close enough to the centre but away from any night time noise.
The staff are fantastic. Several times I asked simple questions that would have been brushed aside in other hotels but the staff here were making phone calls, searching books..genuinely helpful and polite.
The rooms are great, very big with comfy beds and above all the whole hotel is spotlessly clean.
We were able to book in at 1200 midday on our arrival and having paid for a double, I was surprised to find the room had a queen size bed.
At a rate of 119 euros for such a great hotel in a fantastic location, the Alexander is a must.

This hotel was fantastic - I requested a single room and had a double room with a sitting area associated with it - by far the biggest hotel room I have had on my travels so far. Beautiful clean relatively new bathroom, great showers and fantastic service. Only complaint was that it did seem a bit out of the way compared to some of the other hotels.

My sister and I stayed at the Alexander Hotel from Feb 26th - March 1, 2006. The hotel rooms were very clean and a pretty good size. Did not have much of a view, but was able to open the window, which was nice. The shower was powerful and the hot water lasted forever, and boy I should know. It snowed in Dublin and the hot shower was very nice. The staff was extremelh heopful with directions to various destinations and advice. Can't say much about the food as we ate elsewhere. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We flew to Dublin for my husbands birthday and really enjoyed our stay at the Alexander Hotel.
The hotel is quite bland but very clean & comfortable.
Our room was a good size and had a king size bed which is a luxury in UK hotels.
The hotel breakfast buffet was very good but expensive, there is a good choice of local restuarants/pubs that serve breakfast much cheaper.
The hotel was in a great location just two minutes walk from the aircoach stop and in a quiet side street. The georgian district is very beautiful and it was easy walking to all the sights/shops etc.
Our only complaint would be that the rooms could do with extra soundproofing, we could hear the tv above ours and the man snoring from the room next door !!

I searched for a long time on the Internet to find a good Hotel in Dublin, It was a surprise for my Dad's Birthday. He is a well travelled man, and always stays in high quality accommodation, the task became quite difficult, reading other peoples'reviews kinda helped, but I simply had to make a decision, as time was running out, and Dublin is very busy at the weekends!! I am so glad I picked the "Alexander", It was perfect, and made my Dad very happy...
The reception area was lovely, modern and very big. Great seating area with big comfy sofas to lounge on, waiter/ess service. Staff were efficient, friendly, nothing was too much trouble, very Professional. Room was a good size, modern, and very clean. Hotel was in a great location, about 10 minute walk from Temple Bar, and 5 minute to Grafton Street. Would definately return to this hotel. Another tip, try "Eliza Blues" Restaurant by River Liffey Temple Bar, great breakfasts, fab people. Have fun...... We did!!
