“Bad idea the stone cooked steak at the table”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2014 via mobile

Very good irish stew with good beer and nice atmosphere, we go there everytime we are in Dublin. Too bad for the recent idea of a steak slowly cooked on a stone at the table, sooo much smoke and smell really ruined our dinner!! It was being served on the other side of the pub but it was unbearable. Let s hope they ll take it off the menu soon or we are NOT going back!

“Steak!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014 via mobile

Walked upstairs and was deserted- wasnt thinking good things.
Quite possibly one of the nicest steaks I have ever tasted. Cooked on a stone, it was still cooking as it arrived at the table. 10oz ribeye chips and salad was €22 very good.

“Upstairs in the lounge, a lovely evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2013

While a lot of the pubs in Temple Bar area are dodgey at best, we had dinner upstairs at Farringtons. The food was great, the service excellent. Our young server was helpful, courteous, cheerful and swift. Must have been a Boy Scout at some time. Very helpful in our planning of what to see in Dublin the next day. His advice to not miss Kilmain(sp?) Gaol was spot on. Dinner too was great. The Sheperd's Pie was the best I had in 2 weeks in Ireland.

“Farrington had a gp here in 1904”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2013

A gp (good porter) was hastily gulped here by Farrington, antihero of Counterparts by James Joyce. Five times in one day during working hours @ his nearby clerk's job Farrington ducked out for a drink, chewing a caraway seed to cleanse his breath. His woes & his name now frame the walls of this Dublin TempleBar Pub. Behind where I sat, a framed photocopy of the Joyce short story is wallmounted. My spouse decided to stay @ our hotel, but gave me a 100 Euro note for a brief solo venture into Dublin, mostly spent @ the Dublin Writer's Museum on Parnell Sq., but then I crossed over the Liffey & found Farrington's. A Friendly barman drew me a Franciscan Well Shandon Stout (from Cork) & an O'Hara's wheat Stout while I regaled two touristy barmates about the literary history of the pub. Lots of Craft beers here and apparently great food also.

“Farrington's of Temple Bar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2013

Located in the middle of the Temple Bar district, Farrington's pub operates in the ground floor of a beautiful historic building, with guest rooms upstairs. It proclaims itself to have been established in about 1890.

The pub is divided between three quiet rooms, two with doors to different streets and one tucked away in the back. The decor features dark polished wood, some worn, and cream colored paint. The service is attentive and friendly.

The Guinness is well-poured, and the fried chops are delicious.
