Owner description: The Stags Head is a historical Dublin pub featured in Dublin Pub tours renowned for it's hospitality and famous pint of Guinness! You truly capture a sense of the hidden Ireland when you accidentally stumble upon The Stag’s Head. Finding it is akin to discovering a rare treasure as it is concealed through a narrow passageway off Dame Street, although access can also be gained through Exchequer Street or Georges Street. When you enter inside this feeling of discovered booty is greatly intensified as a virtual paradise of culture and old world values confronts you. This is probably Dublin’s best preserved Victorian pub - and everything here is of authentic Victorian origin. Take time to look around and savour the sumptuously carved Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops. Visiting the Stag’s Head is a wondrous experience wether you call when the premises is cosy, warm and glowing at night time, or in early morning when this is old repository of liquid culture is radiantly illuminated by wafts of sunlight filtering through the stained glass windows. The mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern, being long and punctuated by exquisite partitions that divide into private compartments or stalls.

“Amazing!”

Me and my girlfriend went here on a monday and we were very very satisfied. The Comedy Crunch stand-up in the basement was by far, the funniest thing I've ever experienced. I was laughing so hard that my cheeks was hurting as hell the morning after. I can't even remember when I had this much fun. So if you're in Dublin on a Sunday or Monday you should head to Stags Head and the Comedy Crunch. You may never want to leave, ever.

“A fine pub for a pint and a bite.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

I was fortunate enough to be in Dublin for the recent St. Patrick's Day festivities and, having been to The Stags Head on a previous trip, decided to return. The inside has a very warm and comfortable atmosphere due in part to the beautiful woodwork throughout, and the head of the stag hanging on the wall makes for a good conversation piece This time I had the fish and chips which were easily the best I've ever tried. The fish portion was more than ample and the chips were a pleasant change from the regular french fry type, instead being pieces of potatoes which, when cut in half, were perfect bitesize. Along withe a few pints of Smithwicks, a few drams of Tullamore Dew, and a very enjoyable conversation with Pat behind the bar, it all made for an extremely pleasant experience, and it will be a regular stop for me any time I find myself in Dublin.

Great relaxed atmosphere. The staff very friendly just belly up to the bar & you won't be disappointed. Along with a great offering of beers they stock many different Irish whiskeys. Try the Green Spot it's excellent.
