Owner description: The Stags Head is a historical Dublin pub featured in Dublin Pub tours renowned for it's hospitality and famous pint of Guinness! You truly capture a sense of the hidden Ireland when you accidentally stumble upon The Stag’s Head. Finding it is akin to discovering a rare treasure as it is concealed through a narrow passageway off Dame Street, although access can also be gained through Exchequer Street or Georges Street. When you enter inside this feeling of discovered booty is greatly intensified as a virtual paradise of culture and old world values confronts you. This is probably Dublin’s best preserved Victorian pub - and everything here is of authentic Victorian origin. Take time to look around and savour the sumptuously carved Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops. Visiting the Stag’s Head is a wondrous experience wether you call when the premises is cosy, warm and glowing at night time, or in early morning when this is old repository of liquid culture is radiantly illuminated by wafts of sunlight filtering through the stained glass windows. The mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern, being long and punctuated by exquisite partitions that divide into private compartments or stalls.

Great pub among many in the area. Bar food is nice and they will serve coffee or tea while at the bar. Restrooms are downstairs, so could be a problem for some with stairs. Bar people were all very nice and waitress stopped to chat. Mixed crowd from 20's-60. Games on 1 tv, not too loud. Fun place to stop in the city.

It was a frequent haunt when I was younger and hadn't been there for a while. Very busy but great atmosphere. Good banter with some of the barmen

The Stag's Head was definately one of my favourite pub's when I visited Dublin City over the weekend in February 2013. The interior is delightfully cosy, the staff were welcoming and friendly and our overall experience was really positive. The drink prices are average for Dublin, I wouldnt say that it was overpriced in any way and the food menu was great value for money as well. My boyfriend ordered a cheese and ham panini with fries and the ham was a proper thick cut with a beautiful flavour. The barman was happy to chat in between serving customer's and offer us advice on other bar's and restaurants to visit in the area. He also let us taste a couple of the house ale's before we purchased a full pint. I would recommend the Galway Hooker Pale Ale - twas very nice! We visited during the day between 2pm - 5pm so although there was a steady stream of customer's it wasn't overly crowded and busy. However, I can imagine that it does get rather packed in the evening's as do all of the bar's and pubs in the centre. A definate must to complete your Dublin experience! 10/10 for me and I hope to return one day!

There is a large number of pubs in Dublin offering live music, Irish and otherwise. That can be fun. But sometimes one wants to sit and talk in quiet, or just sit and drink one's Guinness in peace. The Stag's Head is the place to do so, and in a great ambiance: the interior of this pub is more or less in its early 20th-century state. Definitely my favourite amongst Dublin pubs

Dropped into this pub for a few pints and a bit of lunch recently with My wife, Really enjoyed both. reasonable prices for a city center pub. Staff are a pleasure, Good conversation and service which unfortunately is a dying art in Irish Pubs. Decor is great, Comfy seats and beautiful stained glass windows. Warm atmosphere and rich history left Me wanting to stay longer. Already looking forward to My return visit. Go and enjoy for yourself. Regards. Tom
