“On your doorstep”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

Dublin mountains are fantastic for young and old. Easily accessible from any part of south county Dublin and free. Fantastic paths and routes laid out by the Dublin Mountain Partnership and Coillte make them an easy (ish) hike or walk for all ages. Pack a lunch and make a day of it. I like to park at Pine Forrest and come back towards Three Rock with the views unfolding as you go - On a clear day it is just wonderful. Get out there!!!

“Stunning landscape, sometimes tricky roads”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

Really beautiful landscape within half an hour of Dublin -we particularly enjoy the drive over the Sally Gap but avoid if it's a sunny weekend as every other Dubliner will have had the same idea and unfortunately dangerous/foolish parking render parts of the road impassible at times.

“Mountains on the city's doorstep”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

I normally access the Dublin Mountains via Ticknock Recreation Area which is 10 minutes from Dundrum Town Center. I park there and walk up to Three Rock for fantastic panoramic views of Dublin city, the bay and south to Bray Head and the Sugarloaf in Wicklow. Hike a little further up to the Fairy Castle and you have the full expanse of the Dublin Mountains laid out before you. A must visit for the outdoors type visiting Dublin.

“breathtaking”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

Easily accessible from Dublin, you are quickly into the countryside with all the attributes you would expect in Ireland: gentle one moment, craggy and steep another. Lots of sheep, lambs, access to the Irish Sea.

“Beautiful scenery only a short journey from Dublin”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

I always love coming here! The scenery is magnificent, especially in high summer. It's the perfect day trip for picnics with family.

A word of advice: don't just rely on GPS/satnav. The signal can sometimes be lost. It's a warren of roads, so buy an official Ordinance Survey map just in case! Avoid if the weather is very bad too.
