Self guided with the help of leaflet. Always liked this small museum with lots of information about the Pearse family. Patrick and William were both executed for their part in the 1916 rising.

This is close to where we live and we visit St Enda's Park regularly. Despite it's familiarity, it's a fantastic visit. I'm not so sure about the new addition in the Rose garden. The new entrance (back right of building) is a very modern, glass and smooth granite structure. Every time I visit, I change my mind as to whether it's an eyesore or a marvel! The park surrounding the museum is a gem and you can spend hours rambling and exploring the various 'follies' that are strewn around. Great place for kids and families.

I have visited St. Enda's twice now, each time with a different group. The first trip I made we toured the grounds only because the museum was being refurbished. This time we got to visit the museum and it was extremely interesting for the historical significance of Pearse's school and also we got an insight into the talents that Pearse's father and brother possessed as stone masons. The displays of their work were beautiful. St. Enda's is a very interesting and beautiful place--well worth the ride outside the city. You could spend a couple hours there wandering around the house and gardens.

The Pearse Museum and St. Enda's Park is located in Rathfarnam, eight miles outside Dublin City Centre, a little off the beaten track for tourists. Do not be put off by the distance as it is only a 20 minute bus ride on the number 16 bus. I was familiar with Patrick Pearse from school history lessons as would most Irish school children. This is an excellent attraction for those interested in Irish history and the Heros of the 1916 Rising.

Set in a beautiful location at the foot of the Dublin Mountains the museum is a former school run by Pearse and his family, it does not have the "classroom" feel to it. The building has a Nature Study Centre an audio-visual show titled "This Man Kept a School"., which is very informative. The Grounds surrounding it, are second to none with their walled gardens and riverside walks. There are also tearooms that you sit indoors or on the terrace. Although the eating area are to the highest modern standards the also bring you back in time to the days of elegant living.

Well worth a visit as there is something there for all the family.
