“Great way to spend a few hours”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2014

I stopped at this museum after getting off the Red Bus tour, which made it very convenient to hop on and hop off. A stunning location for a museum, very picturesque with many long corridors of fascinating history to explore. Get in there if you're a history buff.

“Quality Museum, A Bit Outdated and Confusing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2014

We visited all of the National Museums in Dublin and, while we enjoyed all, this was probably our least favorite.

The 1916 exhibit was top notch and very informative, but the rest of the museum was a bit dull. Add to that the very confusing flow of the museum itself and we had seen enough after about an hour or so.

I would most definitely go for their special exhibit as it's obvious they have a great curatorial and exhibits staff to put those together. However, for the permanent exhibits, I would recommend a quick walk through.

Also, the restaurant on site was EXCELLENT. The name escapes me, but the food was terrific!

“Big area to walk around”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2014

Close to our hotel, great frontage and Marching Square, exhibition on 1916 Uprising and fight for independence from GB gave a better understanding of why and where the troubles broke out. The military exhibition was mores suited for young children than adults, the remainder of exhibitions were very sterile.
On a warm summers day I would bring my grandchildren here for a wander of some of the exhibitions and a picnic outside.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2014

My son absolutely loved this museum. We were staying right down the street and went there three times as it was a free attraction. Exhibits were informative and the vehicles and weapons in the museum were very neat. Only downside was that the gift shop was closed everyday we went there.
