“Good Golly, Miss Molly!”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

This statue, with the local title of "The Tart with the Cart" is one of those things that you should see when in Dublin, just because it is there. Don't expect to get too near to it on a weekend, as so many people want their picture taken there. The statue, seems to be fairly well executed, and reflects the song, which apparently is sung at local sporting matches.

“A statue's a statue”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

It is what it is. Nice to put a face to the name though. Busy corner with bikes and tourists but nice to see. I suppose not seeing this would be like going to Rome and missing the Spanish steps!

“Not missing much”
Reviewed May 2, 2013 via mobile

Didn't go looking for this, just happened to walk pass it whilst walking about the city.As a statue it's nothing special so don't go out of your way looking for it but chances are you will probably end up walking past it like I did.Like some else has written, it seems to have been done for the tourists.

“Urban Legend or Real Person, she's a part of Dublin !”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

First the statue : it's at the junction of Grafton Street & Suffolk Street, it's a bronze version of a busty female & it draws lots of visitors, many having their photo taken with Molly !

Why's it in this location ? Well, the legendary 17th century Molly allegedly sold fish not far away, and in her spare time also sold her services to wealthy students at the adjacent Trinity College. Should we believe all this ? Personally I doubt it, but who now cares. Molly has been immortalised in Dublin's song & story with most "Dubs" more than familiar with the words of the song "Cockles & Mussels" (best recording by the even more legendary "Dubliners" ballad group) and she's surely still a big tourist attraction, with crowds turning-up to have their pic taken here.

Enjoy the "craic" as you visit, while watching your bag / wallet !
