Just came back from a lads jolly, 15 of us stayed here as a base for the Aviva Stadium. Clean rooms, comfy beds, pleasant and helpful staff. Value for money breakfast with good quality coffee. Bar until the small hours. Absolutely suited us for our trip. I would definitely recommend this place and will stay again.

Booked this place based on rave reviews. Had a four bed dorm to myself as had booked a twin ensuite. The rooms are clean and well insulated as noise doesn't seep through allowing a decent night's rest. Beds comfy too.
The bathroom was a bit tired though and not well cleaned.
The continental breakfast is decent value at €4.
The tram stop is at your doorstep as is the Jamieson Distillery.
Not a bad location although would possibly consider staying in the Temple Bar area next time.

We stood in the Hostel for four nights with friends in a 6-bed-room (1st floor) and afterwards for one night as a couple in a 2-bed-room (4th floor).
To start with the negative experience we had: The hotel seems to organize from tome to time a party, what is good for party-people but bad for people, that wants to sleep. The ridiculous thing is, that the party starts at 3 o'clock in the night (to 6 o'clock) and is clearly audible in the sleeping rooms (Furthermore a quite unfriendly clean-up lady wanted to asure our check-up time at 10 o'clock the following morning.)
Beside that, the place is a very good hostel. It makes a very safe impression (one needs cards to enter and use the lifts, ...), the personel at the reception is friendly. The rooms are very tidy, but there is no clean-up during the stay, what could become unlovely, if you stay in a 6-bed-room for a longer while. Due to the size of the hotel, the place is very clinical.

The quality of the rooms are different from the 6-bed to the 2-bed rooms.
6-bed-rooms:
- the double beds are very modern
- there are nor hooks for clothes nor shelves nor any kind of funriture anywhere, what would be very usefull especially in the bathroom
2-bed-room:
- Almost like y hotel room!
- A lot of hookes, even towels and a table

Generally the hostel is a quite good place to stay in Dublin.

All in all a nice hostel to stay in Dublin.

Room Tip: If you don't want to party all night, it might be advantageous to asure to get a room in a level...

Amazing. That's it. Adorable people and nice place to stay. Where is a food-store nearby and many good pubs, f.e. Cobblestone with live irish music. Comfortable rooms: soft bed, warm blanket and shower.

Room Tip: Where is a free wi-fi for guests on the ground floor, but you could catch it in your room on the 2nd...

Hostels are everyone things but everyone should try a Generator!

The location is walking distance to the city centre. The rooms were very clean and beds very comfortable. The whole concept, design and atmosphere is what you go for and it's cheap!

Love it

We stayed here in May 2013. There were 11 of us on a stag do and on previous similar occasions we have ended up hostels which resemble third world accommodation. However this time, we arrived at the Generator and I was shocked from the off. The building is modern and clean. Everywhere you'd go you'd see wet floor signs because the staff were so attentive keeping it to a high standard of cleanliness. The communal areas resembled more of a hotel than a hostel. There was a fantastic bar which served homemade, fresh and affordable food. A couple of pool tables, loads of comfortable and quirky seating areas. All in all it was very inviting and I could understand why there was always so many people relaxing downstairs. The only draw back to me was that on the Saturday they had a nightclub in the communal area which was blazing out the music until 6am. Perfect for some but when you just want your bed you don't need the noise.

The bedrooms themselves were comfortable. Fairly spacious with modern aesthetic bunk beds. The bathrooms were clean and well equipped once again. There is an option to hire a safe downstairs although in the bedrooms under the bed they had storage boxes which you could padlock anyway.

All in all, the hostel was far more like a hotel than a hostel and I was very impressed. Because of this I will always look for generator hostels if I'm going away especially if they're all this standard.

This is more like a hotel than a hostel. I stayed in a 7 bed dorm with a private bathroom and it was very comfortable. The hostel has an excellent bar downstairs and does a great breakfast too. It was clean and the bed was very comfy for a hostel. It can get a bit loud on the weekends with live bands and DJ's in the bar area but what else would you expect in Dublin. Wifi was very fast and even worked in the room.
