Since the two main cathedrals of Dublin (St. Patrick's and Christ Church) are Protestant, the Pro-Cathedral is the Provisional or acting cathedral of the Roman Catholic church.
It was built between 1815 and 1825 on the site of 12th century abbey and was built in the neo-classic doric style which is very different from the Gothic styles of the other cathedrals.
We have seen pictures of Michael Collins' funeral which was held there.
It is a few blocks from the Dublin Spire.
