Attraction details
Owner description: Dublinia is one of Dublin’s top visitor attractions with three exciting exhibitions all located at the historic crossroads of Dublin. There are three exciting exhibitions; Viking Dublin and Medieval Dublin recreate the city through life size reconstructions, including a Viking house and a medieval fair while Death and Disease are also investigated. Finally unearth the city’s past at the new interactive History Hunters exhibition, visit an excavation site, and see medieval bugs under the microscope in the Lab. See Dublin from a new perspective and come away knowing more about its citizens throughout the ages!
Useful Information: Activities for older children

If you are interested in these periods of history, you can spend many educational hours here. There are three floors of exhibits that lead you from Viking times all the way through to present day archaeological projects.

The Viking floor was a little scanty, but the medieval floor was much more in depth. Unfortunately, while we were there, there were hordes of unruly and unmonitored teenagers which made it difficult to get around. Still, we learned a lot. There are some fun interactive exhibits such as brass rubbings and throwing tomatoes at a poor soul locked up in the stocks.

We went in as an after-thought, but really enjoyed it! There were interactive exhibits that would be fun for young kids, excellent historian showing how coins were made. The upper floors were our favorite, showing what a Viking village would be like.

My wife and I enjoyed this museum / exhibition, but the group of teenagers there that same day probably found it more to their liking. There are interesting and informative exhibits (even for old folks like us) about the Vikings and Medieval Dublin. It was worthwhile, but we didn't stay very long.

This is a great place to start your history lesson of Dublin. Designed for adults and kids, and adults who like to act like kids. Spend time and really dig in to the history presented. Be sure to climb the 96 steps to the top of the tower for wonderful views of the city.
