Owner description: Dublinia is one of Dublin’s top visitor attractions with three exciting exhibitions all located at the historic crossroads of Dublin. There are three exciting exhibitions; Viking Dublin and Medieval Dublin recreate the city through life size reconstructions, including a Viking house and a medieval fair while Death and Disease are also investigated. Finally unearth the city’s past at the new interactive History Hunters exhibition, visit an excavation site, and see medieval bugs under the microscope in the Lab. See Dublin from a new perspective and come away knowing more about its citizens throughout the ages!
Useful Information: Activities for older children

People at desk were very poor at answering questions and being helpful. Not sure that they were trained at all.
Exhibition for children and not much to keep adults entertained.
Big mistake - when I went out the door by the cathedral I saw that I could have had a combined ticket but no one offered it to me. Cathedral staff lovely, they gave me a reduction for the difference. Well done

Apologies that you did not have a pleasant experience at Dublinia.
We aim our exhibitions at all ages, and for the most part we think this works, however we will take all of your points on board and look into the matter.
Many thanks for your review.

Dublina is a museum set over 3 levels, that takes you through the early history of Dublin from the Viking era to the late medieval era. The bottom floor is dedicated the Viking invasion of Dublin and gives lots of information about the viking way of life, the second floor is all about medieval Dublin (with exhibitions on the black death and illness, markets, punishments etc) and the top floor is about archeology and excavation sites, which is also extremely interesting. All the way through the museum there are interactive real life "sets" which depict life in medieval towns, Vikings settlements etc. The museum is one of the best I have visited and is suitable for anyone, families and couples alike. It is located in the centre of the city right next to Christchurch Cathedral. A must see!

We had a few hours to kill while waiting for a tour and came across Dublinia.

There are 3 levels at this location. You start out downstairs in the Viking level. There are tons of interestings facts about the Vikings coming to Ireland and settling there. The second level describes the life and events of the medieval times in Dublin. The last floor show what an archaeology dig site is like. There are some interesting artifacts there along with some novel interactive items.

If you are looking to learn in depth some of the history of Dublin, then this is a great place. For the price however I was expecting a little more.

This museum goes through years of Dublin's history, giving detailed descriptions of all major aspects. It my friend and I about an hour and a half to do and was less than 10 euros for admission. There's a lot of audio information throughout the museum as well as costumes you can dress up in and things from the time you can take part in (games, pictures, etc). Really interesting to see.

This is one of the most entertaining museums I have ever seen, with lots of interactive stops for young children: copying ancient text, dressing up like historical figures, playing games of long ago. But more than that the museum shares a rich history in an informative and entertaining way. We all learned so much and I would go back again in a second. Really an incredible experience. Do not miss it.
