The Custom House in my opinion is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, an architectural masterpiece of European neo-classicism by James Gandon. To think it was burnt to the ground in 1921 during the War on Independence. I love the view from the railway bridge leaving Tara St. heading north, I picked up a copy of a James Malton (1803) painting in the National Gallery of Ireland, it has tall ships in the foreground, beautiful , people always admire it.
