Owner description: With free admission and described by the Lonely Planet as 'not just the best museum in Ireland, but one of the best in Europe', the Chester Beatty Library is a must-see on any Dublin visitor's itinerary. As the only museum in Ireland to win 'European Museum of the Year' and rated consistently in the top 6 of TripAdvisor's list of 'Top things to do in Dublin', the library's rich collections from countries across Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Europe open a window on the artistic treasures of the great cultures and religions of the world.

“Really Enjoyed It”

The Chester Beatty Library is inviting. There is an engaging self-guided set up with lots of information on what you are seeing. It is an impressive collection to say the least. A collection of texts, items, manuscripts, paintings, scrolls etc from Asia to the Western world. The top floor featured items arrange in dedication and explanation of religions across the world. Very interesting.

There was a limited time exhibit on Parisan fashion prints from the early 1900s which I felt really lucky to see. A beautiful exhibit.

I didn't eat at the cafe there but it seemed reasonably priced for the set menu items, and also seemed well used by visitors.

“Unexpectedly good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

We ended up in the Chester Beatty Library because Dublin Castle was closed for the G7 summit. We spent the whole morning there and still didn't see everything, its a terrific collection and beautiful art collection. Not particularly about Ireland but recommend if you like to be interested.

“Excellent Christian manuscripts and Collections”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

We were impressed with the Christian gospels written in Greek from 150 to 250 AD. Have not seen anything of this quality in most museum collections. Impressive collections on three floors of Islamic, Christian, Buddhist art, books and religious items. Great small restaurant, the silk road, with unique food items that can be eaten in the museum courtyard. An outstanding private collection assembled by experts over many years that cannot be equaled by many public museums.
