Waterloo Lodge
Ranked #26 of 150 Dublin B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 14, 2012

In what seems to be a quite trendy area of town, this was slightly better than average, but not quite a very good.

It's not in the centre, but there are plenty of pubs and restaurants in the vicinity. Just don't get confused with Waterloo House which is on the same street.

The room was OK. Not the biggest and the headboard was loose on the bed but it was clean. Couple of loose tiles on the bathroom floor, and the lack of a shelf for soap in the shower could also have been easily rectified to make the overall experience better. There was note in the guest information folder saying that the current owners have just bought it, and they're currently refurbishing, but I'm not sure how long that had been in there.

Breakfast was good though, despite us needing to have it right at the start of service due to having a ferry to catch. Home made breads and a good cooked part. Just wish I could have spent longer on it.

We stayed three nights at the Lodge waterlo in August, we were really good. Family atmosphere, great breakfast, and pulzia ampieza dele rooms enough. Perhaps it is a bit far from the center, at least twenty minutes to walk but it is certainly not the fault of the girls, who have always proved helpful and kind. Very quiet area like the rest of Dublin. I recommend vivamete. Thank you, Marco from Italy

The guest house was overpriced due to concert being on at the Aviva Stadium - good location for the stadium and lots of eating places to choose from at the end of the road. I had booked Waterloo as it had parking but on contacting them there were no spaces available - they only have 4 spaces out the guest house - this meant we had to park on the road and pay for parking - only problem is you can only pay for 3 hours at a time - difficult if you decide to take the dart into Dublin for the day.

We booked the hotel because of its proximity to the city center and the possibility to park a car. We were pleasently surprised with the spacious room and excellent breakfast. Although the walk to the city takes 20 minutes, there is enough to see in the streets you pass and, if necessary, a bus stop very close to the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Dublin and does want to experience the cosity of a small hotel.

Room Tip: We used the family room (4 persons) at the back side. Excellent choice.

After reading the reviews on this cheap and cheerful b&b our expectations weren't high but I can honestly say I was surprised. Our 1st room was spacious but basic, with no handle on the bathroom door, the mattress was old and lumpy and the pillows were just a piece of foam covered with a pillowcase. There was no sound proofing in the room at all and we could hear every word from the people in the adjoining rooms. There was no manager or owner to talk to and all the staff were young Eastern European girls who had no authority to do anything. They did move us into another room, in the basement! It was dusty and we spent the next two nights awake with the noise of a herd of elephants above our head. It was only after asking again that we were moved into the attic. If we hadn't been with friends we would have checked out.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep and dont mind being in a room that is in the attic or mind that it is barely bi...

The consensus of most reviewers is the hotel is well located and convenient with the opportunity to walk to the city centre and that the staff is helpful and friendly--agreed!! Thought the breakfast was OK, we were there 3-nights and missed the first morning because we had to leave early for a tour. Room was in the back, and could not be described as spacious. Really no place to sit other than the desk chair and I agree with an earlier review that, although the facilities worked OK, the bathrooms need some improvement. Beds were inconsistent, one was comfortable, the other was not. Room was quiet and clean and offered good value for a city that is known for being expensive.
