“Great value”
Reviewed January 5, 2007

Stayed for three nights including new years eve. The location is great. 10 minutes into town centre on the 4, 7 or 45 bus directly outside the hotel and only 1.35 euros. It's exact fare only but the hotel reception staff were happy to assist with changing a note. 26 euros door to door from the airport in a taxi or 7 euros on the aircoach if you prefer.
Room was clean and well equipped for 99 euros.
Bathroom clean and spacious with shower gel / handwash provided. The only problem we encountered was that the safe in the room didn't work but we didn't report it due to our short stay so I can't comment on maintainence issues.
Had a meal in O'Connell's on new years eve which we reserved by phone from the UK before we travelled. Despite being a busy night it was impressive and very good value for money.
Excellent place to stay for an economy break in Dublin and would stay again.

Stayed here at the end of December with the kids before the Ulster/Leinster rugby game. Location is great - just 5 mins walk to the DART station at Sandymount and right beside the RDS and within walking distance of Landsdowne Road. Room was spacious, comfortable and clean and superb value at Euro99 per night. O'Connell's Restaurant is also excellent - great quality food and a children's menu that is rather more imaginative than the norm (no processed chicken nuggets here!). Great spacious lobby with comfortable seating too. Just a pity Ulster lost the game!! But despite that, we'll definitely be back.

We just returned from our first trip to Dublin, and we stayed at Bewley's Hotel in Ballsbridge for 5 nights. For convenience, it can't be beat. The Aircoach stops just outside the gate, the bus into the City Centre is right in front of the hotel, and the DART station is about 5 minutes away by foot.

The hotel is lovely and because we booked early, we were able to secure a deluxe king roon. VERY roomy, with comfortable bed and a lovely duvet. Large bathroom with tub and shower. Also, a nice little round "porthole" window in the bath let in natural light.

Ballsbridge is a really nice area, with lots of good restaurants within a short walk from the hotel. As a treat, we ate dinner our last night at O'Connell's Restaurant in the hotel. The salmon was the best I've ever had!! Very affordable since we ordered from the "Early Bird" menu. Attentive service and the bottle of wine that my husband bought at a local wine store was chilled perfectly.

Wireless internet (just turned on my computer and there it was) as well as an in-room safe (free) which was large enough to fit my computer into comfortably.

Front desk response to questions was quick and polite.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone contemplating a trip to Dublin. It is an awesome value for the money.

This is definitely where we will stay when we return to Dublin.

Stayed here for Ryder Cup. Easy access from airport on Aircoach. Easy Access to Dublin Railway via light railway 200 yards away.
Very impressed with residence for 99 euros.

Food in Restaurant also very good, as was service EXCEPT it took 5 attemps to get the bill correctly added up after evening meal. Waiters don't all speak english as first language and they tried to pull a fast one using the somewhat confused pricing structure on the menu. We stood our ground and insisted they keep adding it up till it was correct. Missed out on their tip as a consequence. CHECK YOUR BILL CAREFULLY IN THE RESTAURANT otherwise great place

I stayed at Bewley's in Ballsbridge for a night in late September and for two nights in early October. I chose the hotel as a good option for a first night after a very long trip. The Aircoach stops just outside the gate. I had booked somewhere else for the last two nights of my trip but cancelled it and reserved Bewley's for those nights too. I had a short wait for my room as I arrived before two p.m., but the staff went out of their way to hurry things up for me. The room itself was very pleasant and had a double bed and a single, a small round table and two chairs, a closet, drawers etc. There was also an ironing board and iron (free) and a safe (charge). There was a hair dryer in a drawer and extra pillows. Everything was clean and the bathroom was a good size. There was a television with quite a lot of channels. You open your door with a card which you also use to slip into a little box by the door to turn on the lights. I found the staff at the reception desk to be very helpful and always pleasant to deal with. In the afternoon, there are free newspapers on a side table in the lobby and a big bowl of apples by Reception. A nice touch. I did not eat in the hotel so I can't comment on the food. I thought the location was fine. It is a three minute walk to the Dart station for getting into town and there are buses right outside. There are a variety of places for coffee, a drink, a meal and a small Spar mini-market just up the road. Both times my stay was mid-week and the hotel was blissfully quiet. It is set back from the road and has a lovely garden to stroll around if jet lag gets you up in the night. Even though I was paying €99 for just myself (they charge by the room) I still found it good value.

  • Liked — The cleanliness.
  • Disliked — Nowhere nearby for internet access. Wifi available in the hotel but didn't have a computer with me.

We planned our trip to Dublin as part of a piece of our 15 day trip to England, North Wales and Ireland. Originally I was leaning towards The Albany House near St Stephen's Green. I was a little hesitant because of all the write up's saying that Dublin City Center was so noisy after the bars let out in the early morning hours. By happenstance my husband and I saw a special on The Travel Channel and Samantha Brown recommended The Bewley's in Ballsbridge. Thus we decided to make Bewleys our stay for our 4 nights in Dublin.
We were completely satistfied and thrilled with every aspect of our stay. The location is less than 10 minutes from O'Connell street by city bus (Lines 7 or 11) and it is also serviced by the City Hop on and Off bus and the Aircouch Bus for the Airport shuttle-picking you up just outside the hotel on Simmonscourt Rd. The rooms were modern, clean and roomy. The lobby had free internet access and the staff were friendly and knowledgable. The hotel orginally belonged to the Mason's and later had been used as a school. All this for a set 99 Euros per night. The restaurant was a a bit pricey- but that had been stated in other reviews- so we weren't taken by surprise- although we did eat there one morning and our last night (very good dinner meal even though it was pricey). There are several local neighborhood Pubs (Horse Show Grounds and Paddigan's) and a convenience type store within a very close walking distance from Bewley's. We found that the location was not far from the City Center at all- and after a day of exploring Dublin- it was nice to come back to the Bewley's Hotel in Ballsbridge and have no unpleasant unexpected surprises -only exceeded expecations. A 3 Star hotel that should be rated even higher. We would definately stay there again and highly recommend it to others. The experience was first class in our book.

  • Liked — Modern, Trendy, Clean, Upscale and convenient to Dublin City Center-
