This is a somewhat average Hilton, rooms are clean and comfortable as you would expect. It is most definitely business orientated, but I don't think that fully excuses the indifferent staff attitude which seemed to be commonplace.
The big plus here is the Luas (Tram) line station which is pretty much on the hotels' doorstep, Trams are regular and only 2 stops to the end of the line at St. Stephen's Green where you can walk to Temple Bar or wherever you need to get to. This is pretty much the only reason I can think of for tourists and visitors to stay here, the hotel itself is nothing special but will provide the very basic requirements for a good stay.
Breakfast was excellent, the staff here excel and there is a great selection of both hot and cold food. I'm not sure it's worth €20pp but if you can go for a Breakfast inclusive rate I would highly recommend doing so.
One real negative was the Hotels' point blank refusal to accept Visa Debit for incidentals, so if you don't carry cash in large amounts (who does?) then charging to your room is not an option. I guess some things are still backwards in Ireland (this is the only Hilton I've ever stayed in with this mindless policy). Thumbs down here.
In room TV had a good choice of channels, a lot of which had poor quality picture and/or cut out periodically. Underground parking is €10 per day but needs to be validated at check-out otherwise may cost more. Wifi costs around €20 per day which is excessive in this day and age.
Despite our HHonors request for a High Floor, this was not granted by the hotel who claimed that some rooms did indeed suffer from noise pollution from the passing Trams.
All in all, the Hilton Dublin is no great representation of the excellent Hilton chain but it will serve a purpose if you need a place to stay in the City. The Luas station is a gift!
