I do not know of any other hotel that could offer the level of service, food and accommodation on the 2 day break. (b&b + one dinner)...79 euros per person. We were given a voucher to hand in at the restaurant and offered the full choice of the evening menu. The food was excellent and well presented with no pressure to buy drinks. On arrival, we were quickly served with a snack in the bar by attentive staff. Being on the 6th floor (no waiting for the lifts) we had an impressive view and a quiet non-smoking room. The shower was excellent, easy controls and a good temperature. Purchasing the 3 day Dublin bus rambler ticket in advance on the internet was a definite plus. There was no hassle at the airport and we used it to go into the city, and beyond, over the 3 days.

A group of friends and I (7 in total) were in Dublin for a birthday celebration. We wanted an inexpensive but decent hotel, with a 3 star rating, that included bed and breakfast.

After checking TripAdvisor, we went for the Regency. The price was 70GBP for two (yes, TWO!) nights stay, Saturday and Sunday night, with breakfast included. That is 35GBP per night!

Initially we were a bit worried by the negative reviews on TripAdvisor, but after checkin we wondered if the people who had left bad remarks had stayed in the same place! The hotel was perfectly acceptable - a large Georgian style building that houses the reception, lounge, dining room and bar, and a new wing for the bedrooms.

The reception, bar and lounge areas are tastefully kept - all leather and wood - whilst the rooms are lovely and large, clean, well funished. The bathrooms were clean, with everything working! No leaky showers or stuck plugs in the bath! Our group had booked 4 rooms in total, and we were all extremely pleased with the quality of the rooms and the decor - it was a good quality 3 star hotel, as rated by the AA and the RAC. I can only assume the people who have left negative comments expect 5 star hotels for 3 star money!

The views from the windows varied; most of us got a lovely view of Dublin. One of us got a room that looked on to a brick wall!

The hotel is some way out of Dublin, and a mini-bus cost 10Euros to get us from the hotel to O'Connell Street - its about a 30 minute walk into town by foot. The national stadium is just down the road, a 10 minute walk away, great if you're going to see the football or the hurling.

When we came back late on a Saturday night, the bar was still open at midnight, and a local cabaret act was still playing. They weren't to our taste, so we went to the lounge and had a few drinks there; they've set up the doors and seating so that if you don't want to hear the cabaret, you can sit in the lounge and still have a quiet conversation without raising your voice.

We went to bed fairly late, and didn't notice any noise from either the bar, or from other guests in the hotel.

The folowing morning, we went for breakfast (included in the price). WOW! Cereals (5 kinds), juices, cold meats, different breads, AND a cooked breakfast if you wanted it - all included in the price! It definitely set us up for the day!

The reception, bar and waiting staff were, to a person, friendly and helpful.

The icing on the cake was when we checked out to go back to the airport - the hotel lays on a FREE bus to the airport, upto 10am each morning.

When we stayed, the hotel was in the process of having some building work done; some room looked over the foundations being laid, but there was no noise from the work whilst we were there.

PROS
- Incredible value - 35GBP per night bed and breakfast for a 3 star hotel
- Friendly, helpful staff
- Huge rooms, well equipped and clean
- Terrific breakfast
- Free bus back to the airport

CONS
- cabaret act on a Saturday night may not be to everyones taste
- you need to get a minibus to visit Dublin centre (thankfully frequent, and cheap)

SUMMARY
- 3 star hotel quality
- Incredible value for money
- Clean, friendly
- Recommended!

I was terribly disappointed in this hotel. Peeling paint in the bathrooms, water stains on the walls, stained sheets on the beds, a broken telephone cord in the room, a stench of mildew in the halls, and a desperate need of renovation everywhere. I have no idea how this hotel was given three stars. It deserves to be unrated. Stay in a B&B on Drumcondra Rd, but do not stay at the Regency Airport Hotel.

We booked a 3 day break through the internet and was pleasantly surprised with the standard of the hotel. We found all the staff helpful and efficient. Our room and bathroom were clean and the bed very comfortable. The residents lounge was comfortable and the decor throughout was in keeping with the age of the building. Breakfast was excellent. We would visit again.

the regency is not in the city center but close to the highways so if you are renting a car and do not wish drive in the city itself, this is a good place to stay. There are bus stops right outside the hotel and a cab to the city is about 12 euro. The room was clean and spacious but not by any stretch of the imagination gorgeous. Staff was helpful and gave good directions. the Internet was broken while we were there but there are internet cafes everywhere that are cheap.
