A pleasant B&B with an attentive staff spread over two restored townhouses in Dublin's shmancy Georgian district. Major attractions are 15-20 mins. away by foot or bus (stops out front). Nice breakfast conservatory with a back garden and frolicking dogs.

Myself and a friend stayed in Waterloo House for two nights last month. We had traveled around Europe and ended our trip in Dublin. I have to say that out of all the hotels we have stayed in during the past few months, Waterloo House was by far the best. The house is very warm and welcoming. As we didn't know much about Dublin, we had a lot of questions about where to go and what to see which the staff where more then willing to answer. Tea and coffee in the room which was great and breakfast in the morning with French toast and waffles, which we couldn't get enough of.
Waterloo House and the staff reflect the friendly, warm and beautiful city of Dublin and I’ll be back for sure.

Recently my husband and I spent a week at this lovely bed and breakfast that was located in a residential district in the Ballsbridge area of Dublin. The Waterloo is run by Ms. Corcoran who is very personable, charming and quite helpful. Also her rates were quite reasonable for such an upscale area of the city.
The guesthouse is withing walking distance of St. Stephen's Green and Trinity College. The Temple Bar District and O'Connell St. are about a 15 minute bus or cab ride away. We found a number of good reastaurants, pubs and coffee houses just arround the corner on Upper Baggat St.
Our room was quite comfortable and beautifully furnished. The food was good and the staff were friendly. We will definitely return.

We have just returned from a week at Waterloo House. The guest house is lovely and we have never experienced such an incredible welcome before. The accomodation was so comfortable it was very hard to drag ourselves out of bed. But the promise of the great breakfrast buffet proved an incentive! In fact depite poor weather we felt so much at home that even the rainy days did not spoil our vacation. We are looking forward to a winter trip to yet again experience the tranquility of the hotel and the warmth of the hospilatily extended to us during our stay.

My sisters and I selected this b&b because of the favorable ratings on TA. The host/owner was no where to be seen . The staff was multinational (students at university) who didn't seem to speak English. We're Southerners, making it had for them to understand us, and hard for us to understand them. The rooms could use a bit of spiffing up, as they have a worn, tired look. If you are going to serve breakfast in the solarium, you should find another place to put you dogs, as having breakfast and watching them relieve themselves is unappietizing.

Ireland is very expensive at the moment, so I decided to save a little on lodging by going with a bed and breakfast. By the conclusion of my five day stay, I regretted that decision.

I can verify all of the negative comments here. When I checked in, my room was missing bath linens and the advertised in-room teapot. I called up to reception to get some towels, and got the most baffled response, as if it were odd to want to clean up after a day of travelling.

The teapot never showed up, and the towel set that arrived did not include a washcloth. (In fact, three days later my bathmat went missing, never to be seen again.) My window was painted shut, preventing me from enjoying the spring air (although safety bars were in place, and other rooms' did not have that problem.) My entire floor was under construction, with boxes of plumbing and furniture piled in the hallway, and yes, the hot water ran out on my last day.

I see now that my trip also apparently overlapped with the manager's vacation (May 17-22), but it is unfortunate that she did not have the foresight to train her coworkers sufficiently to keep up the standards in her absence.

The only positive is the location, which is right around the corner from two small but excellent shopping districts, ten minutes walk to the DART and 15 minutes walk to St. Stephen's Green. Anyone who's witnessed theweekly stag/hen party insanity of City Centre knows that Ballsbridge offers a fantastic combination of convenience and quiet.

  • Liked — Good location in a well-maintained building
  • Disliked — Seems like they regarded guests as a nuisance to be endured, not accomodated.
