Our stay at Waterloo House was very comfortable, the staff were charming and helpful. Yes there was a plumbing problem but when reported in, I hope, a civil manner we were informed that they had had the plumber out on several occasions and that he was having dificulty sorting the problem. How many times has that happened to anyone at home and with unsympathetic plumbers? We were over the moon when we recieved a telephone call from the Hotel manager to inform us that they had managed to get the problem sorted, what service!
We would most definately stay at Waterloo House again, it is ideally situated to walk into the city, and to travel to the countryside. The food is good and beautifully served. Keep up the good work we look forward to visiting you again!

We had a problem - there was no hot water, it stopped during my wifes shower. The responce from the management was poor. We arranged to talk to the manager before we left and agreed to meet at 6:00. The manager did not arrive and our compliant was not dealt with satisfactorily. - Poor service, accommodation O.K . Location OK 15 minute walk to centre (or close to No10 Bus stop)

We stayed for 3 nights in October 2006.

We have just returned from a weekend in Dublin. We chose this hotel on the strength of reviews and it is also included in Alistair Sawday's special places to stay. First impressions a little dented as we had to ask for tea/coffee making tray. This made us feel our room hadn't been prepared for our arrival. Room clean and attractively furnished, if a little small; bed comfortable and spacious attractive clean bathroom. Breakfast was ok but juice either watered down or poor quality as was the bread and preserves - mixed fruit 'value' jam we thought! Cereals were in bowls covered in clingfilm - ok for muesli/ rice crispies but not so good for weetabix which has to be removed from a packet! Prunes and apricots had not been soaked so somewhat dry and hard. Can recommend the french toast and the bacon though!
At the end of showers on day 2 water was cooling off but put this down to us being later taking showers than previous day. Day 3, water runs out just as i finish rinsing my hair. Sadly my friend in room next door not so lucky. She ended up having to finish her shower in another room that had just been vacated. Not only did she have to go wrapped only in towels the shower had not been cleaned! The response from hotel staff was less than sympathetic. They implied it was our own fault because we had not told them about water cooling the day before. How were we to know it would actually stop?! We asked for a reduction on our bill and was given a 25 euros reduction. Not a lot we felt considering the inconvenience. When we asked to see the manager we were asked to return later but when we did so she was not available. The member of staff had been authorized to increase the reduction to 35 euros. It was clear from comments from other guests that they had also had water problems. The hotel said this was a new problem but we don't think so. Possibly their water system cannot cope with a full hotel. This hotel could be so lovely but it is poorly managed and we feel it is not good value for money. Staying here is not cheap! 2* quality for 4* prices. We will return to Dublin but not to this hotel.
