Wonderful assistance we got. They had no room available as we hadn't prebooked and the last room had been taken minutes before we arrived. The manager that evening spent some time on computer trying to find us something. We were provided with a studio room at one of their friend's homes around the corner. We were very lucky to have this help. The alternative accommodation was most satisfactory and we were able to partake of breakfast at Waterloo each morning by walking around the corner from our studio apartment. Breakfast was fabulous. The hospitality provided to us for those 4 days was unbelievable. Waterloo House itself is a beautiful Georgian property. We only got to see the sitting room which was beautiful. We were given a cup of tea/coffee while we waited for our alternative accomm to be prepared. Thanks to you all. Will come again but prebook next time. Dublin was great.

What a wonderful short stay I had. Was travelling alone and could not recommend it more. The place is ideally situated and the staff were fantatic. Felt right at home.

MY wife and I spent four nights at the Waterloo House at the beginning of our first holiday in Ireland, plus another two nights at the end of our vacation. The Waterloo House is conveniently located close to Dublin city centre. Take a short bus ride or a casual (no more than a half-hour) stroll past elegant Georgian facades and suddenly you're there among the museums and other places of interest, including the superb shopping centre around O'Connell Street. There are several good eateries very close to the Waterloo House, and many more slightly further afield, including the highly recommended Isabelle's (approx: a 10-15 minute walk). The Waterloo House also has as a Tesco supermarket and Boots pharmacy quite close by, yet it has the peaceful, welcoming atmosphere of a tucked away suburban fringe hotel. The staff at the Waterloo House were all very helpful and friendly, our room was nice and cosy, the car parking was free, and the hotel's buffet and cooked breakfast options were excellent. Indeed, many of the three and four star hotels we've stayed at in the UK, USA and Asia would be hard-pressed to compete! Another plus point for the Waterloo House is its convenient location for vehicle access to Dublin Port and also the port of Dun Laoghaire. On reflection, the Waterloo House seems to have the ability to cater for business clients and holidaymakers alike, as long as you don't expect breakfast at the crack of dawn. I was particularly impressed with the hotel's free on-line access via a PC in the lounge. Checking my e-mails at another hotel later in our vacation cost an extortionate one Euro for a miserly eight minutes. So, top marks Waterloo House! All-in-all, then, our two stays at the Waterloo House were very pleasant indeed, and we won't hesitate to return when we next visit Dublin. In some people's opinion, it may only be "an average B&B" but, then, some people are just too damn hard to please by half. Many thanks for your hospitality Evelyn and staff...

This is a very good guest house but not luxury as it is marketed. It has a car park which is great in Dublin but is at least half an hours walk into the middle of town. The staff are very nice and the breakfast excellent. Lovely homemade bread.

- Nicely appointed rooms
- Elegant reception area and breakfast room with conservatory
- Delicious breakfasts
- Friendly service - very Irish, slightly quaint
- Good wifi connection in the room - sufficient for Skype video chat with family back home

- We were initially given a room that had a (locked) adjoining door to a neighbouring room. We found that noise travelled through this door quite a bit so asked to be moved. Our request was accommodated promptly and the second room we were given was very quiet and comfortable.

- Further out from the centre of town than we had realised. We walked and it was a long way with bags. The hotel did provide helpful information about buses once we got there. The buses were frequent and nearby (though you do have to have exact change!). It would be great if the hotel provided these transport suggestions when confirming guest reservations.

Room Tip: A small number of rooms in the hotel have connecting doors to the next room. Obviously this is perfect if you are travelling with children or in a group, but if you are not, then the noise does carry through the adjoining door, so request a non-adjoining room when you book. (We asked to be moved, this was done promptly, and we had a perfectly quiet room after that).
