The buildins is very nice, as well as the common room downstairs. The room we booked was a double ensuite. It was absolutely spartan: one bed, one chair. Nothing else, not even a picture on the wall. The bathroom was also extremely small and spartan, with horrible green tiles.
If it's just for sleeping it's ok, really no frills. The bed was comfortable.
The breakfast is not very big, just one drink (milk, coffee or juice) and one bread with butter and jam.
Nice position, close to the center.

This was our second stay at Eccles Court, in the apartments next door to the hostel. This time we took our son, daughter and their significant others. We each had our own apartment at 70 EURO per night as we stayed one week. Since we were there in 2004, the bathrooms appear to be updated. Hot water whenever we wanted it, All appliances in the kitchen worked and we were able to save a lot of money by cooking breakfast and dinner most nights. We were in #4 and it is very BIG, Clean towels and linen whenever we asked. What we really like is the location, just one block off O'Connell St, easy airport access on all buses and about 15 min walk to Connolly and Temple Bar. A Great Deal!!!

we stayed 4 nights at mt eccles court in a 6bed room - were alone for the first night as well. breakfast is very basic, but included, and there is extra toast if you want. bathrooms are mostly clean, but very basic and could have been renovated better - but that is fine. beds and rooms are good and clean and comfortable. the location is just great, minutes from o´connell street and even less from quite a few decent restaurants.

take in the price and what you get for it, this is very good value - and staff are always helpful!

We stayed in this hostel in January 2005 on our little 'Round Trip' including Wales, Dublin and a bit of England.

The photos on the website looked ok, the prices were fine so we booked it. For two nights.

Our room looked nothing like the rooms in the picture. The staff were not friendly nor were they unfriendly. They were just indifferent to us. We had to walk what felt like a mile to our room through not sooo well lit corridors then left, right, left again..it was like a labyrinth. We eventually found it but were appalled by it's appearence: bare walls, a bed that seemed to be made of 2 blow-up-beds on top of each other with some really cheap covers. The bathroom was so horrible we didn't go in there without shoes or socks on. Needless to say we didn't have a shower in there, just the necessary wash.

The breakfast was absolutely basic (which is not necessarily a bad thing) but the lady there gave us two slices of bread pointing at the toaster which wasn't plugged in. No 'Good Morning, how are you, would you like some ....?'

All in all we have not a single good memory or thought of this hostel.

I stayed here with a group of friends for a rugby international weekend. The staff weren't terribly friendly, but they weren't bad either. The room was fine - spacious, but there were a few funny stains on the curtains/bedlinen. Didn't bother us really as we didn't spend much time in the rooms. Shower was much more powerful than expected, although the 'hole in the floor' plughole meant the bathroom got quite wet. If you're looking for somewhere cheap, safe, and within easy walking distance of the city center for a couple of nights, stay here. I wouldn't reccomend it for longer stays though, or for 'proper' backpackers, as it didn't have much character. And one more thing, if you're trying to find it, walk up O'Connell street and take it from there - it's much easier to find it that way rather than any other way! It's just a minute or two's walk from the top of O'Connell street.
