We arrived from an early flight arrival (7 am). The folks at the Portobello made us welcome and gave us a place to freshen up even though our room was not yet available. Location was central with a bus stop just out the door. Would stay here again.

Location, food and room quality were all very good. What lifted this B&B to the top level was the quality of service provided by the hosts. We were leaving on an early plane from Dublin and the hosts ordered a taxi for 3 am. When we came down to the entrance hall we found a mobile phone and a note which said " If the taxi does not come, call this nmber........" The taxi came, but the note and the phone gave us a feeling of security and gratefulness that we normally do not associate with exits from hotels in he middle of he night. Thank you!

We had a two night stay here and can't fault the place. Comfortable room, great breakfasts and friendly and obliging hosts. Many of Dublin's attractions are only a short walk away, along with numerous pubs, bars and restaurants.

We had the upstairs room for three nights. It was a huge room plus hallway and bathroom. The bus stop is just right outside the door, and it is a pleasant walk into downtown Dublin. The breakfast was good, and the owners did all they could to help us, checking the bus schedule and making us an early breakfast. You should be sure to walk the canal in the evening - Paul suggested that to us and he was right. We had great meals at the Broadway Cafe, everything else was disappointing in comparison. They have parking if you have a car (we didn't). £80 a night.

We stayed in this beautiful B and B for two nights(in March 2012 it doesn't allow me to chosse anything beforenJuly 2012) for our two year anniversary and were very happy with everything. We arrived an hour early and Paul was right at the door telling us to sit down and he was off to get some hot tea and coffee. So easy to talk to, warm and inviting. The breakfast was always worth getting up early for, beautifuly presented, and yummy. Eileen was very friendly, and both her and Paul were great at advising us on what to see.The location was fine for us as we walk a lot so we walked to the city cetre no problem, although right across the street is a bus stop that has regular buses heading into the city. The rooms were clean, well presented and cosy, tv nearby, extra blankets and fabulous en suite that I was sad to leave. One fabulous B and B and two very special excellent hosts!!

This was a comfortable and cozy B&B in the southern part of Dublin a few blocks' walk from city center. Our host Paul was very accommodating, serving us tea and checking us in way early when we showed up straight from our red eye. He expressed a distinct passion for his business. I'd recommend this place for anyone looking for a true B&B experience.

I stayed at Portobello B&B for four nights. I was changed room since there were three people coming the following days. Both of them were spacious, clean and quiet. Coffee and tea were always available and Mr. and Ms. Coughlin were always very cordial and caring. They were always ready to offer tea and coffee every time they saw me and, most of all, they had lots of useful trip after I expressed my interests. They strongly suggested that I should visit the Hugh Lane Museum and Chester Beatty Library and I am glad I followed their advice. The neighbourhood is quiet, for a city like Dublin, and most of all clean, safe. They were both very flexible for the breakfast time: it was served between 7:30 and 10, but they were willing to accommodate other times, which I did not have, since I am an early person. In the evening, after I was out for the day, they invited to join for a chat in the dining/living room and offered tea or coffee.
I really enjoyed this family and I will definitely stay with them on my next trip.
