“Great location, comfortable large room.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013

This hotel is located in a really great area of Dublin, right next to St Stephen's Green. The shopping area is really close at Grafton Street and also some cool hotels and restaurants for Christmas drinks and food. The hotel was very reasonably priced, with a large room including a sitting area and a glass door out to the garden which would be lovely in warmer weather! Bathroom had a good shower and bath with plenty of hot water. Heating worked fine...important on such a cold weekend! The staff were very helpful especially on reception. The only problem was the breakfast which was a letdown and not what you would expect from Dublin where great breakfasts are part of the Irish experience. Others in our group felt similarly. The highlight was the fantastic, free wi fi in the room!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms with garden door would be great in summer!

Faulty Towers don't come close to this ! My husband and I stayed in Staunton's on the Green in Dublin on Friday dec 13th 2013, celebrating a birthday and an anniversary . There is no lift in this b&b and we had to climb four sets of stairs to our room . The room was basic , very dated and could do with a good makeover ! One socket worked beside double bed , so had to unplug light to charge phone . There was another double socket in room and when I went to plug kettle into same , sparks came out of it ..... So needless to say no tea/coffee. Wind was coming in through old windows , room very cold . A group of guests arrived into b&b at 4am and the noise continued until 5.30am .
Ah ! but best was yet to come , so following morning , we were really looking forward to our breakfast only to be presented with indelible food ...... Only thing that was fresh was toast and orange juice :-( the rest of our breakfast could have been bounced off the floor . I asked the manager/ owner had he ever sat down to one of his own breakfast's ? He replied 'yes on many an occasion' , then I challenged him to count the number of uneaten returned breakfasts each morning and told him his chef was doing him no favours ! We paid €159 for our stay at Staunton's , never ever to be repeated . What a waste !!!!!!!!

Staunton's on the Green is a very elegant Georgian house converted into a hotel, in a very central Dublin location. The building itself is very charming, although the "hotel"experience is a bit rough around the edges.

I stayed for two night in room 308. It's on the top floor (no lifts, so brace yourself), and was a pretty small room with a single bed, although I was not looking for a large room, so this is not a criticism. The bed was comfortable , but the rest of the room's amenities were not great. The poorest thing was the trouser press that was in the room, it was completely and utterly trashed - fit only for throwing out, I was appalled that this was seen as an acceptable "extra". Thank god I didn't need to use it!

The bathroom was ok, the fittings were pretty old and the shower (no tub) took ages to get hot water out of it in the morning, but was fine was it got started. Other than that, the room was comfortable enough, and with a very hot radiator I was not cold at any time.

Breakfast was in a basement room, and was fine, a nice selection of hot and cold food. There was also free wifi, which I always appreciate. Staff were friendly and helpful. So I would say this was an acceptable stay, but the overall "tired-out" feeling of the bedroom I had left me slightly underwhelmed.

Room Tip: I would imagine most of the rooms on the 3rd floor would be the smallest. If you get a front room th...

The best thing about this hotel is the location. For me it was just around the corner from my venue. The hotel was fine if a little bit old fashioned. Actual keys that you have to give to reception when you leave. Staff were very friendly at reception. Room was small enough but it was a single. I didn't have the breakfast even though it's complementary. Price was pretty good for the location. Would use again.

Stayed at this hotel for only one night in Dec. 2013 but it was a very nice place. Location was excellent, right on St. Stephen's Green. Very close to good restaurants and shopping. Hotel is more like a large B and B. Very charming rooms and public areas. Staff was always very friendly and helpful. Had to leave early for the airport so was not able go have breakfast but they kindly arranged a continental breakfast to be available for me. Would highly recommend this hotel. Only negative thing was that there was no safe in the rooms.

Whilst it's always easy to criticise, this hotel is good value and in a great location. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms could do with a little maintenance but all in all OK. I would stay here again.

You couldn't fault the location, which is right in the centre of Dublin and easy walking distnace to most things you'll want to go and see. The guest house and rooms are a little worn but for the price they were still very good value. The place is warm, dry, and secure, what more could you want? I'd defintely stay there again.
