Took overseas guests to the Academy-- An excellent hotel---Couldn't have been better----everyone in the group was pleased.
We had really comfortable ,modern rooms /plenty of space.
Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.Facilities are superb and proximity to city centre is perfect. Will definitely visit again.

I travel to Dublin on Business on a regular basis and of all the hotels I have stayed in, including some high end hotels, this one is the best overall by a long way.
It is in a great location and has facilitated all of my needs from both business and personal points of view.
The food is of a very good quality, even the room service and the hotel staff are a pleasure.
This has all of the quality of the top hotels in Dublin city without the price.

We stayed for 1 night at The Academy and on balance it has more good points than bad.

Firstly the location, at the north end of O'Connell St can't be faulted: quiet yet slap bang in the city centre.

We arrived very early and asked to leave our bag until check in time of 2pm: 10 out of 10 to Szymon, the reception guy, he found us a room there and then. We had breakfast, good selection if a tad overcooked, and then hit the town.

Our room was small with no tea / coffee making in the room but we only had 1 night. The decor was whacky ! The carpet was in squares, the chair leopard print the curtain polka dot and the bed linen stripes! Something for every taste.

Overall for what we paid it was good and I would recommend it to anyone as the staff more than make up for the whacky decor!

Stayed at this hotel 5th-8th September and couldnt fault the cleanliness and comfort of the beds. The staff at reception could have smiled more but were efficient. The hotel is very central and within easy walking distance or all the sights and of course Temple Bar. Quite expensive city but look out for early bird dinners in evening at most restaurants. We had 2 fantastic 4 course meals for 18.95 euros. Didnt have breakfast in hotel but loads of places close by do breakfast reasonably cheap. The open top bus tour is a must and well worth the money as is the Guinness Warehouse. Buy tickets on line before you go though, cheaper and you can jump the queue at Guinness! The only downside of our trip was the night time noise from the pub next door to the hotel. We were in a back room that overlooked the rear of the pub. The noise went on well into the early hours of the morning and even with the window closed kept us awake! We were also woken at 4.00am one morning by another guest trying to enter our room! She was on wrong floor! No harm done. The walls were thin and we could hear people walking in room above ours. But dont let that put you off. If you can sleep through anything stay at this hotel!

  • Liked — the matresses and cleanliness
  • Disliked — the noise from the adjoining pub

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago for a weekend break and had a very good stay.

Our package included champagne on arrival with chocolates and a basket of fruit and included two course dinner one night with coffee.

We were arrived about 8.30pm as our flight had been delayed but checked in ok and went up to room where wine was in a cooler as requested with a small box of chocolates (3 or 4) plus some fruit. We could have had our meal in one of the two restaurants but one stopped serving at 9pm so left only the Asian. The food in it was very good but a slight problem as the waiting staff did not realise what package we were on and we had to go to reception to receive voucher to hand over for the meal.(we should have received it when we arrived).

Room was very good and like other reviewers had no view from the window other than a wall/ventialation pipe but as were out all the time it didn't matter.

Breakfast was quite good with cooked or continental available although the cold meat/cheese/fruit was very limited. The restatuarant where breakfast was served was very warm.

Hotel location was good with hop on hop off bus starting just outside and also the airport bus although we took a taxi each way at around 20euro each way was more expensive but a lot faster.

Would recommend the literary pub crawl as a way of going round pubs in a group and was good entertainment at 12 euro each.

My Mum, friend and I had a lovely stay at this hotel. We booked a triple room (number 325), it had a double bed and a single. There was plenty of room and the room itself was decorated to a high standard and spotless. There was never a queue for the elevator and all the staff were very pleasant. The breakfast was lovely, a very good selection. The only problem was on the Saturday morning, the buffet trays were almost empty and we were never offerred coffee (I think they may have been short staffed) but the Sunday was perfect. The location is fab, just off of O'Connel Street. I really cannot understand anyone who would complain about this hotel.

My girlfriend and I booked the hotel for a short get-away after reading some favourable reviews on tripadvisor.com. From arrival until departure the staff were welcoming and friendly. The building was far beyond our expectation bearing in mind the price we paid!

The room had recently been refurbished to a high standard although the furnishings could be described 'quirky'! The only downside was the lack of view from our room. The bed's have been highly praised elsewhere but I found it too soft... a personal thing I suppose.

We ate in both the Sir Harry's bar and Abacus restaurant. The bar food was of good standard with pleasant staff. This was greatly overshadowed however by Abacus. Although quite expensive (about in line with the rest of Dublin), the oriental food was some of the best I've tasted. The staff were extremely courteous and friendly.

We will definitely be booking again!
